I believe it is also known as Tradescantia zebrina ? The variety I know, Tradescantia virginiana L., is effective as a laxative, as a remedy for disorder of the kidneys, and as a compress. But other than that I do not know... it is not really a plant I work with....

yes i am talking about Tradescantia zebrina. they are beautiful in my opinion i've had mine fora good 6 or 7 months, since the two plants were sproutlings. ive recently potted a Setcreasea pallida with them, they make for a perfect match.
