I was just wondering if anybody had any links to differeny types of runes. I don't know what the det i had was called, I had always just though they were I don't know runes. but since joining them board i have heard mention of many types other than mine and have become curious. So any help and or links would be apperciated.

P.S if it helps the set was a 22 set that had runes such as tir, ing, peorth and so on :)

Here is an excellent page about the different types of Runes

I hope it helps.

Out of all of the Dinvinitory tools, my favorite are the Runes. What books are you using? (Just out of curiousity.)

Thanks, it's good to know that most seem to be adaptations from another. Not so much to learn that way. Anyways thanks for the helpful link, it's in my favourites now so I can keep going back to figure it all out.:)

Also, the pronounciations & spellings of the names all seem to vary. There's an ongoing rune lesson going on here. In the thread is also a picture of the rune as well. Maybe you can compare yours to the picture & see if they're the same? The one that most seems to be using here is the Elder Futhark.

Yes the elder Futhark is definatly used most often. For a couple of reasons. If you are looking to use the runes in casting, generally people will use the basic 24 runes of the Elder Futhark. And it also happens that they can also be used for most writing purposes as they adapt easily to languages of Latin/European origion (ie english, french, spanish, gaelic, etc). To compensate for differences, when writing in runes, I use a mixture of the Elder Futhark, the Anglo-Saxon Futhork, and personally adapted runes.
I hope you have fun in your discovery...

Thanks, never thought to use those for writing. I have a listing of the witches or theban alphabet. I think I'll now start looking for similarities there as well :)

Ohhh well now I just have to say that I'm beeming with joy about now.... I come here and find that my web page is post as a useful link! I son glad that people are finding it to be so useful. If there's anything you want to know that's not currently on my site please feel free to email me (from the emil link on the site) and ask me...

The majority of the rune sites I have come across use the Elder Futhark rune set simply because that's the set that's most refered to in rune books. Probably cause it's a well rounded rune set. But if you hunt around a little more in books and even some other sites you'll end up finding some really great information on the runes...
