Tell me everything. What do you use it for? Does it have a magickal meaning or anything? Does it contain terpinol as an essential oil?

culinry: Fresh leaves of P. cablin used as a seasoning. The dried leaves of P. heyneanus used to flavor alcoholic beverages.
comestic: Used to rejuvenate mature skin. Used as a deodorant to mask body odors.
crafts: Used in potpourri and has some fixative property.
aromatherapy: Used for anxiety, but too much acts as a sedative.
other: Used in the making of India ink. The oil is used extensively in perfume industry and is contained in fragrances like Tabu, Bill Blass, Polo, etc. The oil is steam distilled from the leaves and stems. The oil is of better quality if the dried leaves are aged before distilling.

Patchouli rubbed on a green candle will draw money, rubbed on a red candle will increase sexual attraction. Stash patchouli leaves under the bed to improve sex within a relationship. (Don't know what it does for single people, sorry.)

Interesting. I have a few patchouli plants because they are easy to keep and I like the smell, but I never really knew what to use them for. Thanks for the info!

Patchouli is my favorite essential oil. All the uses for the oil or the plant that have been discussed here are useful. I enjoy the earthy smell. I use it as a personal scent. I combine 1/8 cup Jojo oil and about 15 or so drops of really good patchouli essential oil in a bottle. There is a fine line between smelling of the essence of patchouli and smelling like a compost heap, so you have to be careful of how much you use.

I wish many of the people that practically take a bath in Polo cologne would follow the same guidlines of moderation!

I have been using patchouli oil as my body fragrance for years-always loved it(and so does everyone who smells it on me) I have been growing patchouli, and intend to harvest it,use a carrier oil(like jojoba),bruise the leaves and stems a little, put the carrier and herb in a non-metallic pot, simmer for two hours or more, and get the strength of scent I want, then bottle it! Voila, as close to an essential oil as possible, and a supply I will have in my herbal cabinet for my use magickally and otherwise- I hope to do this process, and others, with my sage, horehound, angelica, eucalyptus, lavender yhat I have growing like wildfire in pots on my front porch-What are you all gowing, and what plans do you have for it? I also plan to make body ink for magickal purposes

Hm...I've never seen a patchouli plant before, I shall look for that next spring at the nurseries! I love growing herbs.

For more mundane uses,
Patchouli is an aphrodisiac.

Guess there is a reason it's associated with love and lovers. *wink*

and as for the body odors... key word is "mask" *cringe*

Tell me everything. What do you use it for?
I don't use it for anything. I can't stand to be around it or around people who wear it like purfume either.

Does it have a magickal meaning or anything?
I believe that early on in my practice for prosperity I tried using the incense, but could not stand the smell

Does it contain terpinol as an essential oil?
Good question, but I have no idea.

For some reason I've never connected with Patchouli. I don't like the smell so I never use it. I have a couple of packs of Patchouli incense sticks too, but again, I never use them because of the smell.
