I found a neat little book at the book store yesterday and I thought that it would be a great resource to share to those brand new to Wicca. It is called Wicca Year and a Day By Timmothy Roderick.

Basically it has a day by day study and exercise for 366 days. So each day you have something like a little ritual to do as well as a bit of reading to do on Wicca.

Its really cool and for those who want more "teaching" but cant find a local teacher or group. Just thought I would share I really like it so far. I am not new to Wicca but I love expanding my views on the "basics"

I've got this book and I love it. I don't follow a specifically Wiccan path, but it's still got really awesome excercises, and I love the order in which it approaches the teaching. It assumes that you've already read a generic Wicca 101 book or at least know what Wicca is, assumes you want to embark on spiritual study, but doesn't try to elevate itsself to the level of the Wicca 201 book.;) So, instead of spending chapters explaining all the stuff you can find elsewhere, it jumps right in and demonstrates as it goes. The first lessons are all about honest introspection and actual, physical connection with nature(I've read too many books in which the advice "Go outside" is sorely lacking!), and connection with the God/Goddess.

I could go on about this book for -hours-.:)

I suppose I could sum it up as saying the author really focuses on the spiritual side of the religion before emphasizing the ritual and magical aspects. It might be a bit too heavy for some people's tastes, since there's a lot to be said for the spontaneity and joy of worshipping the gods without daily homework, but.. wow. Awesome book.

I liked this book, but my only problem with it was all of the stuff it required that you buy in order to do the homework. I just don't have that kind of money

It's a great book. The only complaint I've ever hear is that the Invoking Air and Ivoking Fire pentagrams are reversed. But I have definitely enjoyed the book. I don't find it fluffy in the least. ---shuvanilu
