The same thing is happening in Tuscaloosa. There is an Alabama football game this weekend. First they were wanting them all out. Now the media is claiming that they are asking those with reservations to please give them up for the refugees. Southern Hospitality does exsist, but not when it comes to football!!!

You know you guys in Ohio made it so Michigan fans, not Michigan State by the way, are fanatics about football with that rivalry there. GO WOLVERINES!!!! I agree with the situation on hand here... turn these games into by weeks and reschedule, or if the stadium is available for the other out of state team, take it there. Peoples' lives are more important than an event that may be rescheduled.

No. Life goes on. I've donated my money, sent my energy, but that's all I can do.. I've quit watching the news coverage...and how can I put this....The Universities and Colleges need the revenue from these games...The communities the games are in rely on the tourists that bring in the tax dollars... You don't stop your life because a tragedy happens. Canceling a football game, your vacation or letting youself get sick and depressed because of it to show respect doesn't make any sense....

Sorry about that, Michigan! GO BUCKS!!
Yes, reschedule the games! If you don't have any players or fans, then what have you? LS is willing to put off games, why can anyone else?

It's just not possible to reschedule things that easily..Airplanes are chartered in advance, busses too that may not be avaliable when it's rescheduled...Money is lost in reservations that won't be returned....It can't be done. I feel as bad as anyone for those people, but I'm not letting it affect me any more...Gimme my football....

When we moved here, a lady told me that if my sons could play football, they had it made.....
Well they could, and she was right. I got into it once with a principal for letting my son off suspension early to play in a game :bastard:
I'm finding myself getting excited about the news saying that tonight kicks off high school football's 'Friday Night Fever' and my youngest graduated 2 years ago!
It would be very hard to change reservations, etc. I have a feeling that some people will voluntarily give theirs up and those who don't will be victims of their own consciences.

It actually does surprise me. Shows now naive I am, I guess. I'll never understand why anyone cares about football, or any other sport. :noway:

Nice to see they've got their priorities set. Maybe some day they'll get it in the right order.

Texas is part of the south and we're just as bad with sports especially football, but they still took people in. I should know, there was a UH game against Oregon that day when I saw all those packed buses with refugees. The astrodome was next to the Reliant stadium ( i didnt know that til i got there), I saw some of the refugees walking to Reliant stadium when I left. I left early so the game was still going on. I'm not sure if they were there to bathe and stuff, or to watch the game. The students were collecting money and food at the game too. But yeah, someone people are just selfish and heartless.
I wonder if Lakeway (i think that's what it's called) church will take in people. That's a huge church. It use to be a convention center or something but somehow that got enough money to buy that place. Lakeway or Lakewood..i dont know, but they're on tv too. I'm not a sports fan...but i guess stadiums do come in handy when you need them.

Old Witch has a point. These communities need this money too. It's not all just about the game. Besides...what better place to get donations than an area that is actually housing the refugees?
