I just got off the phone with my mom...

Last october, my step-sister was married to a wonderful fellow. They are 21 and 22 years old. This morning Derrick was in a car accident with a buddy of his... They hit the right hand ditch, over-corrected, crossing two lanes of oncoming trafiic, and rolled in the jeep into the ditch opposite..

Things for Derrick are not looking good...He's been through two surgeries already and the doctors aren't optimistic... He's lost a kidney, and part of both his liver and colon. His body tempurature is so low that his blood won't clot, and he is bleeding internally...

Please, if you have anything at all to spare, send some strength and goodness to Tamara, Derrick and our families...Thank you so much!!

Thank you all so much for your energies and warm wishes...

I just recieved an update through the grapevine. Derrick has just come out of his third surgery, and for the first time, the doctors are optimistic. His temperature is rising slowly, which is allowing his blood to begin to clot, and his conidition is slowly starting to stabilize. There is no doubt in my mind that this would not be going as well as it is were it not for all of you. Thank you so much!!

Just a small update...Derrick has made it through another day. He is somewhat stable, but still in critical condition. Tomorrow he will be undergoing another surgery, and they are planning another for the middle or end of the week....Thank you all again so much for all the goodness you are sending!!

Another update...

Derrick's gone through another surgery...they were able to stop his internal bleeding and reattach his colon...there's still some liver damage, but that is coming along. With his vitals stable, they've been able to look into the extent of his other injuries... I just learned that his neck is broken and the right side of his body is currently non-responsive. This was a shock, but I don't know all the details. Anyway..there you have it...

Thanks for the update. Frankly my first psychic impression was that he wouldn't survive 48 hours. I'm amazed and thrilled that his love of life is strong enough to keep him going. More healing energies on the way.

Many times in major injuries of this type, there is so much trauma and swelling that some numbness or non-responsive effects occur. When the swelling goes down a bit, the nerves very often kick back in. Hope for the very best.
