Hey guys,
So this is the 6th day straight that people in New Orleans have been left w/ no food, water, medical supplies and are open to terrible diseases such as cholera. The effects will be felt by the rest of the nation, as we are besieged by sky-high gas price hikes and shortages of some kinds of food and things such as coffee. New Orleans was this country's largest port and now that numerous piers are on fire, intentionally or otherwise, we WILL see rampant inflation in prices.
However, I wouldn't blame the people in New Orleans for shooting at med choppers and such, because as the mayor explained, a lot of those people are drug addicts going thru withdrawal. In other words, they are desperate for a fix, not thinking clearly, going crazy and don't understand, nor should they be held accountable for what they're doing.
I hate to be one of those people who "plays the race card," but in this particular situation, I think it may be a valid concern. It seems that the masses left in the now cesspool of New Orleans are 99.9% black. They are also overwhelmingly poor and lower class. They couldn't even afford plane or bus tickets to get out of town and had no cars. They are completely out of communication w/ the outside world and have no idea if and when they will be recipients of aid and charity. It is no wonder that they're acting so "crazy" and looting, stealing, whatever, everything that is not nailed down.
I believe that if that city were currently populated w/ white, middle class OR upper class people that the response would have been much swifter, greater and that Bush Boy would have visited the site of destruction within 24 or 48 hr. of the end of the hurricane. Others may disagree, but that is my firm opinion on the matter and in this country we are supposed to have freedom of speech, so I am exercising it.
My family will be contributing to the hurricane relief effort and I hope as many of you as possible, will also. Whatever the color of someone's epidermis or shade of melanin, they should still be helped and rescued during a tragedy of this magnitude. They were created by a higher power and are human beings, just the same as us. If this nation believes that "all men are created equal" then why are we treating them in such an non-egalitarian manner?? That is my question and I have a major problem w/ the way that our government is very slowly responding to this tremendous crisis. Thank you Texas, OK, AR, and Tennessee for your generosity and support, though! Godspeed and God Bless the people of New Orleans, Mississippi and Alabama!
