Willow Trees seem to come up a lot in my meditation, I have learned a bit about them. I would like to hear others thoughts on Willow Trees. Any info would be greatly apprecaited.
Thanks,

I only know a little bit about willows, but I empathise because the same thing happens with me and birch trees!
Willows are a gentle-natured tree. They're water-dwelling and as such they belong to the element of water and all that it represents.

The willow is sacred to the goddess Hecate, among others, and features prominently in Witch lore. It is reportedly one of the three trees that combine to make the Witch's broom. Willow straps made from the bark peelings are the bindings used to attach the sweep to the handle (birch & ash).
The willow (through its Underworld/Otherworld connections) is an oracle tree. In one of the tales of Orpheus, he is given a lyre by Apollo, which later involves instructing the nine Muses on how to play the instrument. Here we can see the associations of the willow to divine inspiration as well.

Dreaming about willow trees predicts a season of sadness due to the discovery of an unworthy friend but you aren't supposed to get depressed about it because something new will come in.
The willow tree has a long association with sorrow and lost love. People used to wear a sprig of willow or a garland when they were in mourning - the belief being that the willow would take over the loss. You aren't supposed to burn willow in your fireplace in your home (it will release sorrows in the house). You aren't supposed to repeat secrets under a willow or the wind will bring them back to you.
Some magicians like willow wands and women can use willow sticks to divine about affairs of the heart. Hold the stick in you hand and turn around three times saying "he who is to be my good man will come and grip the end of it." The third time around, the future partner is supposed to appear at the other end of the stick - don't know if they appear really or if you just get the image.
Salacin isolated from the bark of the willow led to the discovery of salicylic acid (aspirin).
