Hi there -- I wasn't really sure where to post this, but I wanted as many Pagan eyes as this would get. If a moderator thinks this would be better suited elsewhere, please move it -- because I have no idea!

I'm a Christian, but I share in what seems to be the Pagan appreciation for signs you can find in the world around you. I believe "coincidences" are *not* merely coincidences, but signs to help guide you on your road in life. I take coincidences and strange happenings very seriously -- and that's why I need the wisdom that anyone here may have about this.

I'm going through a weird period of my life where I'm about to start a lot of new things, exciting things, and my life's about to change completely. During this time, A LOT of strange things have been happening, but the thing that's troubling me the most is this.

I live in Arizona, where it's very common to see spiders, snakes and otherwise venomous creatures that would quite frankly like to kill you and eat your womb from the inside, whether you have a womb or not. But in all my years of living here, all my life, and of all my years of being fascinated by the outdoors and sparkly rocks (where scorpions tend to hide), I have never actually seen one in real life. Until this week.

My mother and I were walking the other evening after dinner, and all of a sudden, I saw something moving by my foot. I thought it was a tarantula (my VERY worst fear), and leapt back. Then upon second glance, I realized it was a very large scorpion. My mom and I were shocked, as neither of us had ever seen one, and she's lived here since she was 13!

We dismissed it as strange and forgot about it. Until last night. We were eating late at night at a breakfast joint, and then, once again, I saw movement out of the corner of my eye, very near to my foot. I immediately saw that it was another scorpion -- and this is in a popular restaurant and in a developed area of town where you wouldn't normally find anything like that.

It's very much like they're following me. Now I've seen two in one week (one incident following the other by just a few days), the latter being in a very unlikely scenario, and both next to the same foot --- when I'd never even seen one at all, all my life!

So I'm thinking this may be a sign connected to the big changes I'm going through -- and I'm worried that if I don't understand it quickly, they'll just keep showing up. Do you know what scorpions have been said to represent? Do you know what this could mean? Do you think it means anything at all? Am I incredibly paranoid? Are dolphins keeping secrets from us?

If you've read this whole thing, bless you for your patience.

:awilly: My DH and I are thinking of moving to Arizona :awilly:

Just kidding, I love snakes and spiders.

So about the scorpians. Hmmmm, thats really interesting. I know that scorpians have general connotations of being survivors and being aggresive in a good sense. Maybe it has something to do with astrology. Are you a scorpio? Maybe you'll meet a scorpio soon and they'll change your life. Really, I don't know. I'm just throwing stuff out there.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the links. Went through them and it seems like this could mean any number of things ::sigh:: Maybe it'll become clear to me at a later time.

My thoughts:
It could just mean it's gonna be a hard winter, and the bugs are trying to find someplace warm to hide from it.

But if you want to take it another way, something that you knew you had inside you, that was hidden will come out and blossm. This new feeling or talent is a strong one and will likely make you either fight to make something happen or go back into hidding. You may feel frightened by what you can do, but find that it will become easier over time.

but that is just my thought.

Left or right foot?

Scorpion's Wisdom Includes:

Attacking from the rear
Death and rebirth
Transmutation of poison
Reflecting dark and negative energy back to its sender

Do any of those ring a bell? You're right, you may not see the significance until later. But if you should see a scorpion for the third time, you need to be serious about finding out what this means. Maybe you could do a meditation or ask your spirit guides?

Thank you to the mod that moved this! I was wondering if I should put it in there. Seems I had more views once it was moved. Big hugs to whoever did that :)

And Nova: Interesting you should ask. Both times it was my right foot. Also an interesting note, 7 weeks ago, I broke my left foot during a dance performance. I was worried it might be a sign that I may break my right foot! It didn't feel like that was the right answer, though.

Coyager: The latter seems like it could be. I'm going through some major changes, and I'm about to really start approaching my dreams. That could be it.

Lunacie: It could really be any of those things. I was afraid it was a warning that something negative was about to happen -- like an attack that came from nowhere. I'm hoping, though, that it means death and rebirth, like a new beginning. I'm not sure, though.

I've prayed to God to let me know its meaning, and I feel that I'm closer to understanding it. I've run into more scorpions already, but none in person. Things like changing the channel to Disney and immediately seeing the screen filled with scorpions, which were falling down Cuzco's shirt in The Emperor's New Groove. Things like that -- they're appearing in more ways than one, but I'm trying to ignore the other ways on the off chance that I'm just noticing more since I've seen the two.

I used to live in Phoenix (Glendale, actually) until we moved to Minnesota. I understand that there are scorpions everywhere but people tend to not notice them much because they usually only come out at night.

I was told we would never have scorpions in our house because we had two cats, and cats will eat scorpions (and aren't hurt by them I guess.) We never saw any scorpions.

Someone told me that if you use one of those "black lights" and shine it outside at night you WILL see scorpions as they glow in black light.

I've also heard that the big scorpions tend to be the ones that aren't as poisonous. It's the little ones you have to worry about.

Terrifying thought! But I had another scorpion experience last night, and I think I know what it means now. It was only happening when I was talking about or dealing with one certain thing. I think I have it taken care of now.
