I'm stumbled... In times when I was celebrating this festival, I did it on 23rd of September... but a few people I've met recently are hold their celebrations on 21st, 22nd or 23rd :ahhhh: So, what date do YOU consider as Mabon?

I consider the 22nd Mabon... but that's because I reconcile it with the autumn equinox, and this year, that's the date, as far as my calendar can tell. However, I may not be able to celebrate it tomorrow, so I may shift things to the 23rd. :)

I have an online almanac that does all the astrology math confusing stuff to work out the date per year and according to it, it's Friday the 23rd. I think its find to celebrate anywhere from the 21st to the 23rd any year.

I actually *celebrate* the first day of fall when it actually feels like fall, so normally it's sometime in early october for me. Although the actual solstice is around the 21st of september, to me Mabon is about celebrating the season of autumn, and it's a little difficult for me to do that when it's 90 degrees outside.

Yup, today is my Mabon, I as well celebrate according to the autumn equinox, and according to my calender, that's today. But, it's perfectly fine to celebrate anytime, as long as you celebrate the season, yes most of the festivities are in one day, but I always try to celebrate it a little at a time, kinda like how "everyone" is about the XMas season. Blessed Be.

I usually celebrate with my coven so we celebrate on the nearest weekend to the 21st that works for most of the members lol this year it will be the 25th but I have to work

Sure! I think I have posted it before somewhere... but it was a few months ago, so I'm sure the post is long gone by now.

Well since Madon is te celebration of the Autumnal Equinox it all depends on the day the equinox is on. It can occur anywhere from the 21st to the 23rd. Each year it changes.
Religioustolerance.org has a chart--
YearFall Equinox, in the Northern Hemisphere (UT)
1999SEP-23 @ 11:32
2000SEP-22 @ 17:27
2001SEP-22 @ 23:04
2002SEP-23 @ 04:55
2003SEP-23 @ 10:46
2004SEP-22 @ 16:29
2005SEP-22 @ 22:22
2006SEP-23 @ 04:03
2007SEP-23 @ 09:51
2008SEP-22 @ 15:44
2009SEP-22 @ 21:18
2010SEP-23 @ 03:09
(http://www.religioustolerance.org/fall_equinox.htm)
This years it's the 22nd-- today.
But I supose it's personal preferance which day you want to celebrate it, if you don't mind being exact on the date of the equinox.

Brightest Blessings on the change into the new season! Here's a quote from my translation of the I Ching...
#42 : Autumn
The cycle of the year is completed in Autumn.
The Image
Light up the Earth. Know your own feelings. Understand your motives. Express Love.
The Inside
The Dragon Halts! Do not react immediately when trouble threatens. Pay Attention! The Dragon is patient. Cultivate the internal strength by developing a hidden talent. Good Fortune! The Dragon is flexible. Get your friends to help you into a new situation. Good Luck. The Dragon leaps into the air. Choose between pursuing your Path in private, or beginning a public career. Good Luck! The Dragon Succeeds! Encourage people in accomplishing their goals. Supreme Good Fortune! Dragons Fighting! Violence destroys both the good, and the evil in people. Misfortune.
The Outside
The Dragon thinks before it acts. Wait for the opening before you make your move. Supreme Good Fortune. The Dragon listens without comment. Avoid conflict, and cultivate internal strength. Meditate. The Dragon stays home. Do not try to force the impossible. Be Sensible! The Dragon's viewpoint is universal, and therfore clear to all. Radical changes succeed only when based solidly upon Truth. Be Real! The Crazy Dragon slips through the net! Keep them laughing, and don't let them know what you are doing. Good Luck! The Dragon does nothing. Supreme Good Fortune comes, when everyone assumes their responsibilities, and does their job. Meditate.
The Lines
Top : The Dragon does not look back. While bringing a project to completion, consider plans for the future. Look ahead.
5 : The Dragon makes the law simple and fair. Organize your life according to natural, universal principles. Be Real!
4 : The Dragon remains cautious and thorough. A great deal of trouble could be avoided, if you would only learn from mistakes. Pay attention.
3 : The Dragon conquers new territory. Only experienced help can deal with challenging situations. Do not hire anyone else. Be aware.
2 : The Dragon meets a closed door. Everyone must learn how to wait. Be patient.
1 : The Dragon rests. If everything is organized, this represents only a minor setback. Get wise.

I consider the actual date to be the date of the autumnal equinox.
However, since my group schedules for the nearest weekend, my formal celebration is whenever that is (which may be 3-4 days off.)

I agree with that completely! It's hard to celebrate the changing of seasons when the season hasn't really changed for me. I celebrate Mabon when the fall feels like fall- I get a happier result from doing that!

I consider Mabon to be the official astrological date that changes from year to year, this year it was the 22nd. But I went to a Mabon picnic/gathering last Saturday, 24th. I think that seeing as we are celebrating the seasons then as long as it is still that season then you should feel free to celebrate it.

I'm a bit more practical - the closest weekend to the Sabbat is when I celebrate. Somehow bringing my full ritual regalia to work doesn't sound too appealing . . . The energy of the holiday stays in the air for several days anyway.
