I have a group meeting tonight and next week and I want to do something to connect with the season and I am failing. I don't want something too ritualistic but I would love to have something that can be done outside or primary thing is outside. Any ideas? Even cool easy cheap fall crafts that outside twigs and whatnot other then pressing leaves can be done?
Thanks!

Kern had a wonderful post in Arts and Crafts about leaves. It was a mixture You can use that stiffens them for you to use in art work. I am going to do a few projects with it such as making a fall greenman mardi gras style mask for decoration and a center piece made from leaves for my Samhain table setting like a candle holder with leaves and some small gords and berries using a grapevine wreath. I will go and bump it.It is really easy and doesnt cost much and the possibliities are unlimited. :huddle:

You can make a wreath with each member contributing a leaf or something which strikes them as 'Autumn'. Then again, you can go around the group and ask them what Autumn means to them. Likewise, you can do a free-flow chant where each member will contribute a line or an image associated with Autumn.
Hope this helps,

I have always found that I'm more in tune with the dead during Autumn and through Winter. They seem closer to this world during these times, at least to me. So maybe a ritual for everyone to honor the dead? People could honor their individual ancestors, whether known and named or not, and the group could do a general group ritual to honor the dead. This may sound macabre, but in my tradition this would involve drumming and dancing and food and drinks and would be very much a celebration rather than a mourning of any kind. Good stuff.
Let us know, ShamanFeather, what you decide to do.

Here is something a friend has us do for our equinox meditation. We each chose a bare twig, branch. Then we received several strips of paper. We wrote things to do during the winter on the slips. These could be tasks (clean closet), spiritual practices, a treat for oneself, whatever came to mind as a winter activity that we would like to accomplish before spring. Then we rolled the strips around pieces of yarn and tied them to the branch. They look like little cocoons! We were instructed to keep the branch on our fall/winter altars. Then, when we feel moved to, we remove a "cocoon" and heed its call.
