Not sure if this belongs here or not........I've looked everywhere, but I can't find the magical properties of sumac. A big branch broke off and fell into my backyard, perfect for wandmaking. Any thoughts :hmmmmm: ?

It has medicinial properties, particularly with bowel movement and digestion (it's a diuretic). It is related to poison sumac, which can cause a rash like a poison ivy. Poison Sumac is found in North America whereas Sumac is most prominent in the Med and the Middle East. You may want to make sure exactly which one you have.

Thanks! It's not the poison kind, thank Gods! I have the scientific name someplace.....just not having much luck in the magical arena so far as the wood itself goes.

Silly question but ever thought of asking the tree itself?
With every plant you meet and work with you should ask it about itself
