I am thinking of starting a Divination journal for my Tarot and Runes and I am unsure how to go about that. I've searched Yahoo and didn't get anything...I was hoping for a form or outline of some type to give me an idea what to write...but there wasn't any.
So I'm curious how to those of you that have a Diviniation journal set everything up? Do you have a specific method [like: date, time, form...] or do you just write whatever?
Thanks :)

well i do a couple of things

for me new yars is oct 31st, and on that night i lay out a spread of cards one for every month starting with (for this year) nov 2005 and ending with oct 2006 and i move the info into the front page of my planner so i am prepared

i also keep a journal that i keep track of some of my persoanl readings in (not all) and basically i put the date and time (and note if that was a full or new, or waxing or mercury retro day) and then i write the exact question and then i reference the result and notes that stuck out

so i may list the runes i got and in what order and make a note of something specific htat was very relevant at the time

make sense?

Well, I don't have one specifically just for divination, but I do have some type of spiritual journal in which I do record results of some tarot readings.

I always put the date and day. Time isn't generally as important to me as anything else, but if you want to have some sort of time, you can just write "Evening" or something along those lines. I use college ruled lined paper (as tacky as that may sound), so I generally put those things in the top right (or top left, if you prefer) corners of the paper.

As for the actual content, I generally write simple lists. Of course, I say what spread I've used, then I list the positions (Card 1, Card 2, &c.) and what cards they were (Five of Swords, Two of Rods). I only make another special note for those that were reversed.

Before and/or after that list, I may write down feelings, thoughts, any 'odd' happenings, &c. that may be related to the readings.

Personally, I don't think you need to worry about having any serious outlines or anything. You just have to make sure your entries are organised in a manner that you can read them, and that's about it.

When I was learning the runes, I basically let the runes teach me their meaning through the occurances in my life. I would take one rune and spend an entire week or longer with it, meditating on it, and watching every little nuance and detail that happened every day. I would journal everything that seemed significant. I journaled how my meditations went and what messages I got, if any. I dedicated that entire week of journaling to that one rune. These journals are how I developed my own symbolic language. You can do the same thing with tarot too.

one of the reasons to note time, and extra things like waxing or waning

is it will help you over time see when you were more tuned in, and especially under stress times, gives you a very accurate picture to go back to when things are calmer

to learn any lessons you missed (so you dont have to repeat them)

it will assist you in learning your strengths and weaknesses

Indeed.

It's important to record any details you feel are important, as well as things from Nature or any things that happen that are different than usual. I remember doing one tarot reading after meditating to outside sounds (which mostly include rain and chirping birds); I hadn't slept a wink that night, yet after the meditation, I felt so alive and awake...It was odd, yet nice. I did my most accurate tarot reading then, and I felt inspired. It's a shame I don't get a chance to meditate with the rain or duplicate most of the things that had happened then now. I did that during the summer, when school was not in session, so I had all the time in the world.

Ah, well. The point is that the more such things you record, the better your knowledge of yourself and your environment you get.

Add your own personality into it,
orgainize it in such a way as you can readily understand it months from now when you go back over your entries,,,

add vital info, record any and all details you can recall... I use the Sharpie pens for my jourals (lots of different colors)

the cover should be clearly labled as to the type of journal, (dreams, tarot, runes, personal, etc)
with a start and end date for easy identification if you ever want to refer back to a particular entry down the road...

they can be as simple as composition books or spiral notebooks... or 3 ring binders with the subject deviders...

its up to you...

the key is to add as much of you into them as you want.. (artwork photos etc) while takeing care to add all the important stuff! :)
