I think we have a couple of international members in this class. Let's share where we are from and what makes you want to take this class?
What do you want to learn from it?

Wow, am I really going to be the first to reply? I'm rarely that on the ball! :)
Hello all, I'm Wyrdsister, and I'm currently living in the province of New Brunswick, Canada. I am interested in magickal self defence for a variety of reasons (as I'm guessing we all are). When I first started learning about paganism and magic, I had a difficult time shielding myself from other magic workers and pagans. I'd become quite overwhelmed to the point where my physical and emotional health were affected. (I'm sure this sounds familiar to almost everyone here. ;) ) While I'm much better at shielding and grounding than I used to be, I'd like to work on these areas in a more in depth way. Also, the more I learn about magic and the more people I encounter, the more I realize the need for proper self defence, not just shielding. Unfortunately, there are those out there who would do others harm in a magickal sense, and preventing this harm from happening is something I want to learn and develop.
So that's it from me! I'm looking forward to meeting all of you and learning together.
BB,
Wyrdsister

Greetings,
I live in the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas with my husband and three cats. I learned the hard way early in my walk that one needs to be able to defend themselves magically. I am self taught, and would enjoy having more information from a teacher who is experienced. I know how to shield, put up simple wards, ground and center, and have done a few other things too.
Looking forward to class.

Im a buckeye witch! Ohio here, traveled to several places around the world. But since Im new to witchcraft. I thought the best thing to learn first is how to protect oneself.

I'm in Central Indiana, USA. I have a number of reasons for taking this class but the main reason is, as a completely self taught witch, I feel I need to work on this aspect of my magical practice. I'm especially interested in passive defences that I could use on my daughters (for those of you who don't know, my girls are autistic) and on my home and vehicles. My husband and oldest daughter are interested in visiting some of the haunted sites in the area with an eye to getting into paranormal investigation. I really don't want anything latching onto one of us and following us home -- especially something hostile! The usual run of Witchcraft 101 courses don't normally have this type of information and, knowing how the Universe usually works, if I don't have the information, I'll need it.
By the way, is there anything in the way of supplies that will be needed for the later lessons? I get my stuff by mail order and the busy holiday mailing season is coming up....

Hiya, I moved to Washington state a few months ago from the land of Misery (Missouri) and am quite happy about that. As some have seen from my post of last night I am in need of learning how to defend myself from those people who are not so positive and have forgotten to follow the simple rule of Harm none. Plus at times I can be extra-ordinarily naive and assume that no-one or no-thing would ever wish harm on another and thus I get um...stomped on. I am hoping this class will help to recognize the dangers and to be able to take care of myself at least a bit better. And give me a jumping off point for further research. :)

I'm from Pennsylvania, USA.
my parents were born in India. my mother's family has a history of 'supernatural' events - good, bad and confusing. I've heard of events ranging in time from great-great grandma to some of my mother's brothers and cousins(there are almost certainly earlier ones, but mom either forgot to tell me or her mom forgot to tell her). I don't think it will skip this generation. there were protectors, but they were very place-specific.
I want to learn so that if I become one of those with an encounter, I am prepared.
we've had God stop by definately twice,(once to help out one of my uncles and once to scare the pants off one of my great- uncles), a possibly-God, possibly supernatural practical joker once(to confuse a great- great uncle and aunt), one definate ghost(to check on her kid and scare my great-great grandma to make sure she'd care for the kid whatever else was going on), one apparition that might have been a ghost(badly scaring another of my uncles & his cousin, causing emotional/mental problems to this day), and some non-corporeal 'dog patrols' (that were only seen by someone who wanted to steal fruit from my grandparents' home, all legitimate traffic was undisturbed). all in about four generations. (specific relationships might not be exact, due to translation into english, fuzzy memories from mom hearing the stories many years ago, fuzzy memories from my hearing the stories several years ago. thus it might have been, for example, my great- great- uncle twice removed or through marriage)
so you can see why I need a course like this. I want to learn to be ready.

I'm also in PA
For me, I'm most interested in psychic vampires because I truly believe that my X is 1 and I need to figure out how to handle him so that I can move on even further in my life.
Thanks!

Okay--I noticed some of you talking about the Harm none and Rede. I will tell you this right up front and I mentioned it on my bio--I am NOT Wiccan.
I will recommend that you break a couple of eggs to make an omelet IF it is called for. When it comes to me and mine, I do not turn the other cheek.
As for supplies--you'll be needing some herbs to do blessings and smudging. I can't remember what all we used in the last class...look through the threads from the last class, if you want.
It will be nothing really major and it will be fairly easy to do. most times as close as your kitchen spice cabinet.
Keep sharing -- I'm loving what I'm reading.

I am not Wiccan either. While I have morals and so forth I will not allow people to attack me and mine. I truly don't believe that Godde gave us the knowledge for us to sit on our keisters and get hurt.
Looking forward to more knowledge.

slave isabel: I can relate to what you said about your abusive relationship. My X is the 1 that I think is a psychic vampire. I was drained for months thanks to 6 years of his abuse :(

hello, I am from Florida. I am taking this class because I am for the most part self taught. I have been attacked in the past, about seven years ago, to the point I almost had myself commited. I did relize it was someone I knew who was using magic aggainst me and I did figure out a way to stop the attackes and get that person to leave me alone. It worked and maybe worked a little to well because he was afraid of me after all was said and done. I will go into more detail if anyones interested.

EliseI'm not Wiccan either and I have no problem with "breaking eggs" if that is what it takes. When you consider that virtually any ethically challenged person can walk into a chain bookstore and walk out with information that, if diligently practiced and only slightly tweeked, could cause complete chaos against anyone it was directed against, the need for Magical Self-Defense becomes critically important. Elise, maybe you should consider writing a book.

Hello, I am in northern Minnesota. I have pretty much taught myself for the past 2 years and haven't really gotten the hang of magical defense. That is about it.

Hi, I'm from Northern California. I am fortunate to have never so far had need of magical self defense. I have quite a bit of training in physical self defense though. I didn't wait until I'd had a bad encounter before studying martial arts, and it doesn't seem prudent to wait for a bad encounter to begin studying magical self defense. So, here I am! I'm looking forward to the class!

I am Kaliani..but also known to the answer the quasi birth name of Krys. I am a Wiccan (by legal default). While I support the Rede, I also know that I MUST protect me and mine. As well as making sure my coveners are safe as well. I am self taught, and looking to further the education I already have. I live in Florida and wish I could leave after all the hurricanes......
see even more reason to want to protect me and mine!
Thanks for letting me join the class!!!!

Hi! I'm Ivy and I am from SW Ohio.
I was drawn to take this class for several reasons. Grounding and shielding....not a problem, but I have a niece who is a Psy-vamp and she just sucks the life out of me! I just dunno how to deal with her when she's draining me all of the time.
I also hope to learn some new techniques on magickal defense to help protect myself from those who are trying to harm me mentally and emotionally.

I am currently in FL,and I really dislike it down here. What do I hope to learn? uh...magickal self defense?! How to shield myself, how to protect myself from other people, how to go on the offensive if need be...I'm going in with an open mind, so I am hoping to learn a lot.

I am Rin, I am from Regina, Saskatchewan (Canada). I am interested in this class not necessarily because of what the class itself covers, but because I'm trying to re-cover all of the basics of magical/psychic/other practice. I'm also interested to see how this sort of work will be filtered into the everyday areas of my life, hoping that I can use them to transmute my many fears into strengths.

I'm Mandy from Northeast Wisconsin and live with my overbearing mom and gran. Everything I know about magick is self-taught. I am Wiccan, but I bend the rules when it comes to protecting me and those who are close to my heart. I'm interested in this class because not only of my continuing quest for knowledge, but also I have had situations that a magickal defense would have been VERY helpful.

Lady Ariana here, I'm a half and half, Italian/American who was born and bred in Italy and just returned here from an 8 year stint in Salem MA
I want to learn Magickal self defense because I've been on the recieving end of a psychic attack once, and my only response to it was "board up all windows and doors" till I couldn't feel anything. I hated that feeling, because it made me feel even more vulnerable spiritually.
