HIV/AIDS Testing...

I think I may have HIV/AIDS…or some sort of STD. Well…I’m a little scared. I’m going to get tested soon…so I may or may not have it. I just hope someone can send some energies or prayers…you know…just a little something. I’m really scared about this because if I do have it…I don’t know what I’ll do. I have never been this scared in my life. I’m acting like it’s no big deal but…no one really knows how scared I am…but…

I just don’t know anymore. I guess…I just wanted to ask for some help…some…something I guess…I don’t know. I just wanted to let everyone here know. I hope everything goes good. I’ll be getting tested some time this week. I am hoping to do it today but I may have to wait until tomorrow.

Don't get yourself all freaked out until you know for sure. Think calm,calm,calm.

Practically speaking, don't have the cheek swab test done, have the blood test. If it comes up positive they'll perform a confirmatory test called the Western blot, usually from the same sample. Don't be shy or embarrassed, no one in labs thinks twice about people having HIV testing these days, it's common place, and totally confidential. (See my title-scientist_travolta_ )

If it comes up pos, insist a repeat be done, just in case. If that is pos as well, there are treatments out there to keep you healthy as long as possible. '

I am so glad you are getting the testing done! Nothing is worse than just not knowing. Hopefully, all will be well or it will be something that a strong dose of good old penicillin can take care of.

If the worst is true, then, you will be directed how to best deal with it and, at least, feel you can get some kind of control and take positive steps. But, the not knowing is a real tribulation.

Get tested as soon as you can. I know the real fear is that if you find out that you do have AIDS, you believe that today is your last happy day. But, it isn't. You will have many happy days ahead even if you do have it. You will just need to make some adjustments.

Look at it this way. I am healthy as far as I know. However, reason tells me my time is coming to a close. I know I may only have another 10 years at best. The end is coming. Life is just as precious to me as it was when I was 20. But, day to day, I don't think of that. And, if you do have it, you may be in the same situation. Day to day, you will just live as I do knowing that this incarnation has set time expectancy.

You will be OK no matter what because after all, what is the alternative?

I sincerely hope your fears are not realized but I trust and believe that you are up to such challenges as come your way and that you will be fine.
