For my mom, please

My mom runs a state-assisted day care out of her home. She's been doing this for over 7 years and loves it!!! Last week, one of the parents turned my mom in to CPS (child protective services) saying she hurt her son. So, pending a 90 day investigation, my mom's daycare license has been temporarily revoked and she is freaking out.

What happened:
Wed. a four year old boy pooped himself and didn't say anything. My mom smelled it, changed all the babies, took out garbage, searched the house etc. when she remembered the mom of the 4 year old once mentioning that he had come home poopy because he didn't tell my mom. So, my mom asked him and he said yes. My mom then put him in the shower and proceeded to wash him up (by this time it was all up and down his legs, partially dried, etc.), put him in a diaper and a pair of pajama's until his mom got there.

Thurs. the boy never showed up for daycare so my mom called to see where he was, knowing his mom had to work. His mom answered the phone and yelled at my mom saying "I can't talk to you. Don't play dumb like you don't know!" and hung up. Confused, my mom called the girls mom to see what happened. Apparantly the little boy has scratches down the back of his legs and one under his scrotum...which the mom is accusing my mom of doing intentionally.

Fri. DSHS and CPS show up at my moms to observe and get her side of story.

Mon. DSHS and CPS show up again to inform my mom she is closed pending investigation. During this meeting, my mom was rubbing her hands up and down her arms and scratched herself with her ring, it was missing a stone and the prongs caught her just right. So, she thinks she may have scratched the boy when washing him up and not realized it. Which...incidently makes her feel even worse, that she may have actually done it. But it was absolutely accidental and unknown until yesterday.

My mom is a good lady who loves children and the kids love her. She cares for a down syndrome boy who just adores her to pieces! Children know when they have been hurt, and if she ever intentionally hurt one, they would not greet her every morning with a hug and a smile. She is about ready to have a breakdown worried about herself and the other parents. Any support for a possitive, FAST outcome along with a touch of calming for my mom would be most apreciated.

Oh...and the icing on the cake, on Friday my mom also received a "thank you" card in the mail saying "thanks so much for being so good to my son for the past two years. He's come to think of you like a grandmother." Guess who sent it? Yup, the mom who turned her into CPS. :bangyourh

Oh TZ Im so sorry your mom is going through this. It is so sad that in this day and age when it is sssoooooo hard to find a good daycare that the good ones are being punished. I have said a prayer, will light a candel, and send energy that everything comes out just fine and your mom is able to get back to work with no bad effects.

Bless your heart,this sounds like something I went through,when I was teaching my son martial arts,someone called social services and told them I was beating up my son,but it didnt take long for moma to set them strait.She knew I was good.

As a small update, my mom has collected letters from all her current parents, some past parents, neighbors and friends who stop by unannounced. She is sending copies of all these letters to the state, DSHS and CPS so that she can appeal her lisence being suspended. ALSO...the father of the boy in question called. Seems he had the boy all weekend and noticed nothing out of the ordinary, things his ex is highly over-exagerating and is writting a letter for my mom also.

So, hopefully that's good news and they don't take a month on the appeal process. She gets paid retrospecively, so this month she was paid for Oct's care. Which means next month, she will have no income unless they fix this NOW!

Another thought, since the poop was kinda dried on, is it also possible that it was itchy and uncomfortable, and he may have scratched himself? In any case, your mom should put that ring in a safe place, and especially don't have it fixed until this is all cleared up. Man, this sucks:fpcsucks :fpcsucks

So my mom has her hearing today. Mind you, this is JUST the hearing to determine IF she can continue to run her daycare while the investigation is pending. They have until early February before they have to have the investigation done.

2:30 PST is when it starts. She's a complete nervous wreck. But ALL of the current parents and even some past parents are going to be there as witnesses for her. She could really use some calming hugs and good luck vibes right about now.

Good News! The judge ordered a "stay" of the license suspension, which means that my mom will be able to continue to run her daycare until the case is brought to court. Court dates have been set for Jan 10 and 11, assuming that CPS is done with their investigation by that time.

The other thing that could happen, is that CPS can find this claim unfounded and DSHS will then drop the case and it will be stricken from my moms record. (obviously this is what we are hoping for).

Thank you all for your thoughts, well wishes, etc. My mom sends her thanks to. :) I'll let you know what happens come January.
