so do any of you use tools in your solotary practices? If so do you very on tradition and use others that arent quite wiccan? For example I use a crossed circle instead of a penticle, a shell instead of a chalice a lamp instead of candles, amoungst other changes... but does any one else do this?

Mato, I think that whatever you use is fine. It's real easy to read a book and buy everything the book says you must buy, in order to connect with the Gods and the Goddesses. But what you are doing, imho, is far more personal. So keep doing it, if it makes you happy!!

Are you asking this only of Wiccans (ie. "not quite Wiccan" - we're not all Wiccan here??) ? Or are you asking us, if we're Pagan, if we use tools that aren't part of our particular path/trad/coven or just mishmash tools from any path if we don't have any?

I use whatever I got! It all works if you use it in the right way! Like one time I didn't have any way to have fire..so I used a red crayon. It turned out fine. :D

Any one wiccans witches druids and all pagans (sorry what other denominations are there?) if they use tools different than their tradition suggests. sorry I didnt mean to imply that you were all wiccan, however I found that alot of times the wiccan tools appear in not so wiccan rituals and stuff so I was wondering if substitutions perminant or temporary were made in others paths...

I see.
Being a witch, I don't generally have specific tools per se - a few gemstones or powdered herbs stirred over the fire, some tarot cards maybe, etc. I also use some Wiccan tools intermittently (chalice, besom, wand, athame).

Since I follow a path that's uniquely my own, I use a lot of differant tools...............But the majority of them are borrowed from Wicca.....I started out wiccan, so I guess my roots are there.

I use whatever corresponds with the element and my feelings.

I really don't use many tools. Except maybe a chalice for communion.
The path that I follow now is Wicca blended a bit with Strega. But I don't find it necessary to use tools all the time. Our ancestors used just their hands and imaginations and they did just hunky dorey.
(is that a word?)

Are dohickey whatchamacallit and thingamabober? Coolness! My silver chalice has been gathering dust in the closet... :wah: But I like to play in the rain more than drinking from silver cups any way... :)

Doohickeys are fun, but the only tool you really need is your mind! (Not to say that I don't have lots of doohickeys. Not to mention thingamabobs and whaddayacallits.)
