My granddaughter has had strep throat twice already since school started and it looks like she's getting it again. Maybe the doctor will give her a different antibiotic this time and that will be more helpful.
And and all energies would be greatly appreciated and hopefully helpful as well. Thanks for reading...

Healing energies to your sweet granddaughter.
Also...if you are interested in holistic methods to compliment the antibiotics, tell her parents to have her gargle w/ apple cider vinegar (organic if possible)
One tsp. of acv to 2 tbs. water. Have her gargle, then swallow if she can (it's quite tart).
Be sure to have her rinse her mouth out good with water afterwards- the vinegar can eat away at teeth enamel.
Have her do this about every hour for close to 24 hours. From what I have read, the acv kills the strep bacteria.
Hope she's better soon.

Thanks for the energies and the advice. We tried the vinegar treatment last time and she hated it so much she wouldn't do it more than once. Last week I bought a tube of AIRBORNE formula homeopathic tablets and gave her one of those this morning. It's time for another dose though. And we called the doctor since it's been less than a month since her last bout with strep and he is calling in a prescription for antibiotic... again. We just don't understand why she and her mommy keep getting this crud?

ARRGGGHHHH !
We called the doctor at noon, it's now 8 hours later and he still hasn't called in the prescription to the pharmacy so we can get the poor sick kiddoe started on the antibiotic, and she's getting sicker by the minute.
I called the clinic and everyone had gone home. I called the referral service who called his home phone and then his cell phone. He told them he was in the car and would call back, but that's been half an hour ago now. By the time he finally calls back - IF he ever calls back - the pharmacy in our town will be closed and I'll have to drive in to the city to the one that stays open late.
We've never had this problem with this doctor before.

I know how frustrating it can be to be waiting on the Doctor. If you are given the medication mentioned before referred to as Z-pack, I would like to give you a little bit of helpful hint.
It is really important that anyone taking such a strong antibiotic or any antibiotic for that matter, be taking live cultures. One thing that I found at our healthfood store here is a dairy and wheat free liquid, wonderful flavored probiotics. The reason I like them is while often people take tablets of probiotics that get to the lower digestive tract, nothing is done for the upper. Thrush can immitate strep as well and be very painful. Have your little sweetie gargle it a bit and then swallow it. I know it might sound weird but you want the good bacteria to go after the yeast. The brand I really like is by Nature's life called Pro-96~Acidophilus Probiotic. It comes in flavours like green apple and blueberry and strawberry. It is made with soy.
When I had strep my Gran used to give me her "hot" lemonade. The recipe is as follows:
One freshly squeezed lemon in a cup of hot water with 1 tablespoon organic honey. It stung at first but honey has antibiotic and antiviral properties as well.
I hope she gets better real soon.

After we still hadn't heard back from the doctor, my daughter called him again - through the service. When he heard Katlin's symptoms he said she should have been seen in the office today, I guess the nurse slipped up. He said we could wait and bring her in to see him tomorrow but he recommended taking her to the emergency room tonight. I figured the sooner she was diagnosed the sooner she could get started on the antibiotic. The doc in the ER did a swab and it came back positive for strep, of course. They are at the pharmacy now getting the prescription filled. What a day !
Now I have to figure out something to keep a very bright 2nd grader occupied all day tomorrow since she won't be able to go to school but she won't feel sick enough to spend the whole day resting - watching tv.
Thanks for the advice and the energies. I'll have to go to the store tomorrow and get more yogurt.

I am sure sharing a video or story with her sweet grandma would be the best though :)

Thanks for the energies and suggestions. She LOVES reading, but felt too rotten and yet not sick enough yesterday to settle down quietly. This morning she is soaking in a hot bath, and we might be able to get her to rest quietly with a book for a while. She actually slept pretty well last night, was only awake and complaining once. I sure hope her little sister doesn't catch this from her, or her momma either. Her momma has already had strep throat 2-3 times this season.
Ah yes, while I was playing phone tag last night my sister called and left voice mail saying she was back in the hospital again. Even though they have discontinued the drug that was thought to be elevating her blood pressure, it sky-rocketed yesterday during her chemo treatment. The oncologist was concerned enough that he put her in his car and drove her to the hospital and got her into a bed in Intensive Care. I'm so afraid that a tumor is pressing on an artery or something like that and that she'll have a stroke or a heart attack. Crikey.
