So we finally have a a Mystic Wicks magazine. You have all had some time to look at it and I hope you like it. It has been a long time in the making, but in the end it was surprisingly easy to accomplish because of the great crew that worked on this. That crew, in no particular order, is....
jcldragon
Shalaye Sabariego
Xentor
Jackiedanielz
Czechwoods
Faery-Wings
Fluffmeister
AuntBooPeaceFrog
Kaylara
Morr
Misty
Cinnamon Girl
Ben Gruagach
I think that's everyone. Poke them all. I worked on it too, but I did almost nothing. I used the Huckleberry Finn technique: "Hey, look at all the fun I'm having working on this magazine, wouldn't you like to do it, too?" And they fell for it. HA! When that didn't work, I threatened people and when that didn't work I was forced to compromise my integrity. So, if any naked pictures of me surface on the internet, please remember, I did it for Mystic Wicks.
But seriously, I knew the magazine would become a reality if we had the right people working on it. These people went way beyond my expectations in all areas. Skill, knowledge, enthusiasm, these people rock. We all did our own jobs, but everyone helped each other do everything. It was a big group effort. It's a great group of people on the magazine staff and I'm honored to work with them.
And I have to thank mol for letting us do this. Thanks, mol. It was fun.
Now lets do it again. I want to release an issue on the first of each month. You all are welcome to submit ideas or articles to the magazine. We have our regular columnists, but I would like to see a lot of articles come in from the MW community at large. If you have an idea for an article that you would like to write about or an idea that you'd just like to read about, PM me or send an email to the magazine at....
mwm@mysticwicks.com
We are open to articles, poetry, art, letters to the editor, comments and complaints, ideas, book/movie/music/ reviews, anything. We want you to send in questions to AuntBoo's "What Would AuntBoo do?" column and for mine and Misty's "He said/She Said" column. The deadline for issue #2 is 11/23. The deadline for issue #3 will be 12/24. So get your stuff in here. Be involved. This is your magazine, all you Mystic Wickers. Be a part of it.
Thanks to all of you, every MWer, for working with everyone else to create this community. It is a pleasure and honor to be here and to serve this community.

I've read through almost half of it now. It rocks. You all did an amazing job and I was very impressed. The time and effort put into it is astounding. My hats are off to all of you. The articles are informative, witty, thought provoking and very well written.
The only problem I had with it was the font used on the black writting on white background. It was a little hard to read, at least for me.
But that was it. I'm not done reading it yet but I will get through it when I have more time.
Just wanted to give you all a big round of applause and say Job Well Done to all of you.

A reader said:
I just read through your magazine. I found it informative and actually, delightful. I do not normally use that word. I am new at this and am reading and learning about Wiccin and Pagan beliefs. Thank you for addressing your subjects in an adult, respectful and basic way. I also enjoy your sense of humor.
She also mentioned:
One thing I did notice, there was an article written in white on black. I wanted to print it, as I found that it was a good reference piece. It was VERY difficult to read. There has got to be a better way to get a point across, unless the writer meant for it to be dark magick.
Just a thought,
J.R.

I have just looked at the first issue and it is great, very well produced slick and effective. The content also was excellent not just the overall look of the magazine. Keep it up. When I am back at my computer properly, I will no doubt send you something to consider for publication because I would be glad to see my name in a publication of this calibre.

I think the magazine is really cool and a good idea. The only thing I have to say is... watch out for spelling and proper grammer. I noticed this on the last page where everyone is introduced. It might be good to have someone proof-read each article before posting it up. I would help, but I don't have enough time...even to come on to Mysticwicks. :(
One of the links on the front page has combined two topics, page 34 ("What Is This Hoodoo That You Do?" )and 35 ("Poetry and Book Reviews"). If anyone hasn't noticed, you can't read page 35 b/c page 34's link runs over it. There is supposed to be a seperate link for each topic. So there is probably a slight coding issue with that one.

Not exactly. The two articles are part of one downloadable file, hence there's just one link.

The staff bios were only lightly edited because I wanted everyone's voice and personality to come through in the bios. This was more important to me than making it grammatically perfect.
Submission guidelines will be posted soon.

Would it be very, very, very naughty of me to point out that it's spelled "grammar"?

Hey!
Nice work guys. Do you think there might be a possbility of having it published at some point in the future? Or would that take too much extra time and money?
A very good read, thank you everyone who contributed :)

The magazine started out as an idea for a paper publication. Therefore, it's being prepared that way each issue. So yeah, this might happen.

Congratulations on another well produced, professional magazine. The layout of the magazine is excellent, use of graphics and color and whitespace; good use of color schemes for individual articles while maintaining an overall look. Enough typographic variety without feeling disjointed. Very good job.

Some sidebars do that, but then it serves to differentiate it as a sidebar and not as another column and thus is good.

I have an idea;
an article each magazine of a different faith; daosim, buddhism christianity, islam, etc too. and maybe a certain pagan path like egyptian, celtic etc

I would be happy to be able to contribute, however, I am too new in my path to know what to contribute, unless you want an article of feeling overwhelmed with choices. Hopefully, one day I will be able to contribute. of course, I could always contribute something about pets, sewing, cooking, gardening, or something like that.
Better days,

It's been almost a month since I've been on MW, and almost the first
thing I did was check out the Magazine. Of course, I started with the
cover.
When the pdf opened, I could see only the upper third of the picture,
and I felt a smile spread across my face. And it just got wider when I
got the whole picture showing--a smile of delight.
That smile of delight is my opinion of the whole magazine, first and
second issues, from cover to cover!
I don't have the faintest notion what the artist of the 2nd issure cover
had in mind when he painted that picture, but the result is pure delight.
And so is the rest of the issue. Great going, everyone!!
