Do you use an altar or shrine? What's on it? Pictures would be great! :hahugh:

Yes, I use the main altar for both. Right now it has a nativity seen, a statue of the Mother Mary, a black and red candle, two Pine scented candles, and a tiny Christmas tree on it. With a long Green velvet altar cloth. All of that will change once I get back from my parents tomorrow. I will set it up for Imbolc. Take care and Merry Christmas.

On my altar I have a small Christmas tree, red and green candles, one simple white candle which I'll keep lit all day today and a glass nativity...

At the moment, my "altar" looks like this, though this is more of a way for me to store my tools when not in use than an actual functional altar. That angel picture is of the 4 main archangels representing the 4 elemental quarters, even though I don't invoke the angels as my way of invoking the elements.

I have both. I cannot take pictures right now, but I can describe them. My altar is set up just like the Byzantine Catholic church sets its altar up. A tabernacle like thing in the center, the candles, incense, etc. My shrines are more personal. I have a shrine for Christ, The Creator, Holy Spirit, and the Virgin. Each shrine is decorated according to whos shrine it is. Like Marys shrine has a blue cloth, white and blue candles, roses, etc. The Creators shrine is a black cloth with little glow in the dark stars, planets, etc to symbolize creaton and the afterlife.

This is my Isis and Horus shrine. Isis is considered another version of Mary and Horus is considered by some to be Jesus. I don't know about the Jesus part but being someone that's going to be going into history then I have to look at everything. Hope you like.

Thanks, I like it as well. Someone asked me why the shrine is heavily Egyptian and its because Christianity really got started in Egypt and Isis became the Virgin Mary in the Coptic Churches. They adapted things so that they could practice. Also there were no images of the Virgin Mary back then and so she became the Black Madonna.

Where did you learn this? Do you mean Coptic Christianity, or Christianity in general?

I'm just curious, I have no intention in starting a debate. :)

Don't worry, I know that you didn't intend to start a debate so no debate. I'm talking about Coptic Christianity but you have to see that Christians in general back then had no images of the Virgin Mary. I believe that she was allowed to be worshiped later.

I really need to learn more about Coptic Christianity. Very interesting.

Their very interesting group of people. They were formed when Egyptian pagans converted from Paganism to Christianity. It really took root in Egypt because it was a way of getting out from under the Roman Empires thumb. They took Isis and Horus and turned them into the Virgin Mary and Jesus. Even though I'm Tameran Wiccan I still believe in what the Christopagans believe. To me the Coptic Church is part of Egyptian history and I don't feel like I can just pick and choose which part of Egyptian history I can follow.

So I respect the Coptic Christians and I do feel sorry for them, getting attacked by Muslims. So what I do, I feel, doesn't interfere with my Tameran Wiccan practices.
