I've been thinking about Kemetism for a while and i want to start a few offerings to some of the gods i'm interested in but i'm not sure what to offer. I'm interested in Isis, Anubis, Bast and Set and was wondering what type of things they like. Also should i do offerings for them at different times and do all those gods get along or are there any animosities between them, since i've heard that certain gods don't get on, for example, from what i've read, do Set, Osiris and Horus might not get on, so would Isis be comfortable 'sharing' someone with Set or what.
Hope that makes sense.

Personally, I don't think They mind sharing a bit. Isis can be a bit pushy at times, though. If you're more comfortable with offering at different times, then do that. :) Whatever works for you!
As for offerings, it's highly personal, but here's my advice:
Anubis: ancestor related items, meat, cool water, sand, statues, possibly pottery.
Bast: sweet food or beverages, mint, catnip, honey, perfumes, copper items, sheer fabrics, asian items, red wine, chocolate, milk, cherries, peacock feathers, bells, old-fashioned things, semi-precious stones (green preferably), baskets, wind chimes, glass, water fountains...
Set: meat, spicy food, strong beverages, things made out of iron, weapons, sand.
Isis: white wine, milk, flowers, myrrh or other incence, expensive or rare items.

Do you think champagne would be a good offering to any of them since i thought about offering some tonight as it's New Years Eve.

I can so see Bast enjoying a nice glass of bubbly - esp. if it's good champagne. too bad I don't like the stuff... but I could add other alcohols to it... oh... :D Thanks for giving me ideas David.

I suspect Isis would also enjoy it. Try it, let us know what kind of response you get. ;)

I just did it. I gave a bit of champagne to Isis, Bast, Anubis and Set, i think they liked it because, i hope this sounds right, i kind of felt like they did. Also, there were fireworks and they had stopped but, after i had done it and kind of 'communicated' with them, another one came out and it seemed like it might have been a sign from them, hope that doesn't make me sound mad :).
Also, do the gods have colours associated with them, since the firework was green with red and, like i said, i thought it might have some kind of sign or a way of communicating like saying thanks or hi, does it sound like it was or just a coincidence?.
BTW, just something i thought of, has anyone played music for them, either you with a instrument or can you play a CD for them since Your Beautiful by James Blunt was just playing and i kind of thought it may be good for Isis, Bast and a few others, but i haven't worked with them before, so i'm not sure.
Anyway, hope this made sense and thanks for any help.
Hope you have a Happy New Year (& for those that still haven't reached midnight yet, enjoy your New Years Eve! :)).
Thanks.

Oh yay! David. No you don't sound insane.
Bast is sometimes associated with Green and Sekhmet is associated with Red, so it HetHert (But those two are actually one and the same) and Set is associated with Red also.
Music is a big draw. From what I understand Sobek loves bands like Tool and Rammstein. Aset strikes me as more of a classical kinda Lady. The Gods definitely like music. :) Amun likes wind instruments. Oh! Bast likes bells and windchimes. HetHert likes music you can dance to.
Try around and I'm sure you'll find stuff that they like.
Have a Happy New Year ya'll!

just thought I'd mention that Dad (anubis) likes rum and candy. Give him rum and candy and he will be your best friend. :hehehehe:
just unwrap the candy first. he doesn't seem to quite understand the whole wrapped up food.. thing..

That's great, David. :) You're no madder than the rest of us, hehe!
As for music, I've heard Bast enjoys jazz, blues and bluegrass, but I haven't tried music in my worship as of yet, so I don't know. :)

Gemyt,
I almost mentioned the tootsie roll incident with your Dad. :B He's so great.
(for those who don't know, Yinepu once ate a tootsie roll - wrapper and all)

Offering-wise, Djehuty seems content in telling me where my stories should go and inserting random explosions in them. >< I've heard He also likes coffee. I feel He likes Jamaican music, perhaps a bit of reggae and ska, that sort of thing. Appears to like the colour orange, as well as black and silver. I mostly offer Him written things, stationary, paper, pens, ink, books, etc. Those sorts of things.
Sebek likes green, strong spirits, chicken and fish and is still trying to make me a Rammstein fan. Likes anything green and shiny. Music-wise, likes metal, or anything that's noisy. A friend and me played a Rammstein CD for Him one evening, and He loved that. He loves attention. He's a bit like a cat in that regard. He loves it when I pay attention to Him. And when I buy Him things. Both He and Yinepu are getting rather excited at the thought that I'm going to get a Roboraptor this year, hopefully in the next few months.
Bast is fond of the shiny too, as has been mentioned. She claimed my dark-coloured possibly iron pyrites or something like that and gold necklace and bracelet. She wants the necklace for Herself, but I can wear the bracelet. I might not though. I'm not a fan of gold jewellery. She claimed them as soon as I unwrapped them. I see Bast with green and red, personally.
Aset likes expensive things from what I've heard. Loves Baileys. Colour-wise, She's fond of blue and gold.
But, that's just my experiences with the Gods that hang around me. Hope that's helpful. Thay all like it when I buy Them things They point out. And They decided to claim half my Christma presents this year. Open present, hear Someone calling out "Mine!" Ah well, it was a good Christmas anyway.

I always wondered what they liked. I remember for Set's birthday last year I left him a Budweiser. 8O I didn't open it tho. I often burn incense as a offering to the Gods/Goddesses.

Oh, yes, and Aset seems quite keen on Placebo. For the lyrics. She likes them. So much so She inspired a certain fanfic series. Ah well. I like them. Can't complain though.

Offerings for Dejhuty (Thoth) can be anything to do with writing... ornate pens, pencils, notebooks, handmade paper, old books, things you have written, etc... as far as food and drink do, think of fine things.
To offer anything to the gods, just do it. It can be a FORMAL practice, where you set up a shrine and an image of the god and light candles and incense and say offering prayers, or it can be a SIMPLE personal practice, where you just offer whatever it is to the god with whatever words come to mind.
The Netjeru expect you to eat and drink edible offerings, and most of the time they expect you to use physical offerings. So for example, if you offer a nice pen and notebook to Thoth, you should them use them for writing.

Hello, Everyone,
I've been reading what everyone has posted about offerings and I'm still working out what my gods want. Sometimes I feel like they like one thing and then a few days later they tell me that they don't want that offering anymore. Case in point today. I got my Sekhmet statue and even though she's small I placed her on the box that she came in so that I could see her. I took a nap and she told me that as soon as I was pure she wanted me to burn only Cinnamon incense in her presence and give her what I like to drink.
Since I like drinking grape and apple juice then I'm going to give her some of that. On the subject of being pure I sometimes hate being a woman. The other gods that I have are hooked on coin offerings more than incense. Just to let you know.

DISCLAIMER: this is my own UPG and blah blah blah, your milage may vary
These are things I have offered and have been well received:
Aset/Isis: I actually have never offered Her anything. I always feel like a dirty pigeon with mange trying to talk to an eagle and She intimidates the mess out of me. I'm working on it, though.
Anubis/Inpw: beer (Blue Moon, mostly), mochas, toys, volunteer work, clove incense, dark chocolate (dark chocolate Reese's go over really well), red meat, water, a vial of pure silver, coyote teeth (which were then used in a project), homemade jewelry (bracelets, mostly), art, hymns/poems written by me
Bast: stones (mostly green or purple), anything shiny, a windchime (it was shiny AND green!), art, decorative jars, music, water, wine (merlot), red meat, chicken, jewelry
Set: sand, whisky (He loves Him some whisky), Indian food, tobacco (like I would offer to Napi, the Blackfoot creator/trickster, not the cigarette kind)
It's my experience that we as humans place way too much human emotional emphasis on the gods' personalities. We tend to ascribe words like "hate" or "actively dislike" to Their relationships with Each Other. While They may not feel 100% super crazy-go-nuts positive about Each Other, I have yet to have a relationship with any combination of facets of the Divine Source that refuse to aid/speak with/help me because of my associations with another deity.

Oh I agree. You take Set for example. Even though he was a bad guy, according to myth with the whole murdering his brother thing, I find that he represents change and change is something that's happening. My grandmother died two months ago and I find that I needed to really sit down and understand things. I've been dreaming about storms and I've been hearing this deep voice.
Sekhmet came to me a week ago, telling me that I was to serve her (she's really pushy sometimes) and I have this deep feeling that Set wants me to join him as well. I don't buy into this whole thing that Set is evil and I'm more than happy to give him offering. I was thinking about buying a red candle since he represents the red desert that's beyond the land of the Nile valley. I'll give those offerings that you suggested a try

Set being "evil" was popularized by late Wesirian/Osirian cults as the murderer of His brother and the "bad guy" in "The Contentions of Heru-sa-Aset and Set." However, without Set, Osiris would have never become ruler of Duat and it's not like Set vs Osiris has been the only cause of bloodshed between gods. Isis once cut Horus' hands off and accidentally stabbed Him with a harpoon. Getting chopped into bitty pieces is not a big deal when you're a deity.
Set has never been isfet. His chaos is necessary, His chaos is strength and it's guided by ma'at. Set rides the prow of Ra's boat at night when it descends into the Amduat because He is the only one strong enough to wrestle Apep, The Uncreated. His strength is so vast and acknowledged that if you look at a was scepter, or the hieroglyph for "strength" which is "w's," you'll find the head of Set's animal.
I've trembled in Set's presence, He can be exceedingly intense, but He's also the guy that refers to Anubis as "That Jackal-Boy you love so much", really loves the hell out of oranges, and teases me about offering Him whisky in the middle of the day. He is the One Before Whom the Sky Shakes, Mighty One of Two-Fold Strength and Lord of The Red Land, but isfet, He ain't.

That's what I'm getting with my beginning workings with Set. I'm starting to think that he's the underdog.
