Anyone of an astrological persuasion who gets fazed by the horns, and thus the Mercury-like ( ☿ ) Female symbol can simply remember that both males and females can be horny.

I find myself hovering my mouse over the gender symbol so I can view the text because the male and female symbols are similar. Does anybody else have trouble distinguishing the male symbol from the female symbol?

I think differing colors for male and female might be a good idea.

The males are the arrow thing the females have the cross. Just watch Austin Powers and you'll never mix them up again.

The symbols are not the actual symbols attributed to females and males. I'm not sure why (but yes, it seems like a needless addition of confusion).

The male symbol is identical to the planetary symbol for Mars. It has an arrow attached to a circle pointed up and to the right.

The female symbol is identical to the planetary symbol for Venus. It has a cross below the circle.

Here, however, the distinguishing symbols are on the bottom (again, needless confusion it seems like).

While I like that Idea, we should be able to select a color, or is that jus more confusing. the symbols make sense boys point the way...ahem... and girls are the stable ones...makes perfect sense to me :boing:

I thought that was the thinking behind those symbols, the male one kind of symbolized shooting something, like, into the air or... whatever .... like the way boys like to play with bows and arrows and, er, things .... ? :bigredblu

Male: arrow
Female: cross
Undisclosed: no modifier

Differing colours leads to all kinds of social gender preconceptions. We had a discussion about it a long time ago and decided for a neutral colour.

The horns on the signs and down-pointing arrow, are the result of artistic freedom. Any resemblance with the Mercury symbol is purely coincidental.

yeah.. I just really hate the horns... I'd rather have just plain text saying female, or customizable symbols like maybe a spiral for women and a lightning bolt for men.. just off the top of my head...

Now to remember which one is which. ;)

A nurse taught me a mnemonic, and then was very ashamed of herself because the explanation was "sexist."

Women carry mirrors, men carry spears.

Incidentally, the board symbols are not technically correct because the male arrow should be pointing up and to the right, at about the two o'clock position. Yes, I understand the whole universality of the symbol in use, but i'm just saying ...
