Do you have any altars dedicated to the gods, if you do, what are they used for or have on, are they more shrines to the gods or specific ones or do you do magic things there to like spells, etc.

And, aside from the gods, do other beings have any altars, for example, ancestors or other beings.

Thanks.

Yup, I have an altar - well, more of a shrine. I perform Senut (the daily rite) before my shrine, and I also leave random offerings and say my prayers there. I don't do "spells" or anything, though.

In my shrine, I keep statues or other images of my deities - currently 4 Bast statues/sculptures, 3 different Heru figurines, a papyrus triangle featuring Seshat, Nit and Nebt-het, and small figurines of Sekhmet, Djehuty, Yinepu, Aset and Wesir.

I also have a few scarabs in there, along with "permanent" offerings (a knife for Heru-wer, a miniature pot for Yinepu, a tiny piece of cypress, a basket for Bast, etc) and devotional jewellery.

There's also a candle, natron, a water jug, a glass and a bowl in there, all on a white cloth.

In the future, I'd love to have a proper ancestor shrine put up, but it's currently not possible.

My altar has some of the same things as my sister, Temwa. ^-^
I have an image of Bast, a drawing I did of Her, an image of Amun and a collage I made for Him, and a poster of Hethert with the Nisu Seti I, as well as a statue of Her as Sekhmet as well as a statue of Hethert. I have a few dried roses, some stones, stuff that I gave them from my wedding, neat things that I find here and there, and pretty much anything else that They've claimed. (Most recently: A sample of perfume was claimed.)

I want a proper ancestor shrine, but again: not possible right now, so I have a card with Frida Kahlo's Self-Portrait on it with my ancestors listed inside it. When I get a bigger place that will change.

Here's a picture of my altar. The two on the dais in the center are my Fathers Set (left) and Yinepu-Wepwawet (right), and on the lower part of the altar from left to right are my Beloveds: Amun-Ra, Bast, Seshat-Nit-Nebt-het (using the statue of Nit I bought, plus the feather pen behind Her as a gift I gave to Seshat), and Heru-wer.

Thanks for the replies, all your altars sound cool :) but do you know what i could put on an altar, since i can't afford statues or anything like that, do you think i could maybe draw a paint some of the gods (i'm kind of good at it and it's something i like), also about offerings, does it matter what kind of bowl you use and how do you dispose of them, and how long should you wait. Also, because i've only just started looking into Kemetic paganism, i don't really have any gods yet, is there like a more general altar i could use to them or are there any gods that might not want to share their stuff on the same altar.

Hope that wasn't to many questions and thanks again for any help.

A "regular" kemetic altar (without icons) usually consists of a water jug, a bowl for dry offerings and a bowl for liquid ones, a white cloth, natron or salt (for purity), incense/oil/flowers, and a candle or lamp. "Natural" materials are preferred - plastic is to be avoided if possible. :)

I think They'd definately enjoy a drawn or painted image of Them. As for offerings, if it's food, I usually leave it half an hour or so - then I think you're free to enjoy it yourself. :) It's about the sharing!

My shrine has an icon of my Mother Bast, a cup for water, a candle holder, a stuffed tiger beanie that I gave as an offering to Mom. Comming soon are censer (I want an oil burner... **le sigh**), and icons of Serqet and Yenipu. Before too long I'm going to get a box for letters to my Gods, and earrings. Mom really likes my dangly earrings so I offer them to Her... of course my cat Nox loves them too... so they stay put away.)

Living with fellow Kemetics, we have many altars within the house (and hopefully one or two outside once it stops raining!). There is one for Bast, Hethert, Set, and Atum in our temple room. I have a personal altar for Djehuty in my room, and Yinepu's shrine is in there as well. What is on each of those varies greatly and seasonally.

I use my altars for consecrations and making offerings, as well as focal points durring prayer and meditation. Spellwork is done on the floor. :)
