Does anyone know which plays were put on by the Crotona Fellowship in the Garden Theatre in Somerford? Is there any information on this? Were these all plays that had been written by the Rosicrucians, or did they perform more standard plays by traditional playwrights? An examination of the themes in these plays might prove instructive about the milieu around the New Forest Coven.

I'm not much of a expert on wicccan history, but i think i heard they put on plays from classical times and that it acted as a cover for when they did rituals - they could say they were just rehearsing. I'm not sure if it's true though, other than that, i think there's some information in Triumph of the Moon by Ronald Hutton, also i'm sure there are other people on this board who know more, i think there are some Gardinerian ones, too, like Deborad Lipp, who may know.

They did 'Pythagoras', I know. Read 'Wiccan Roots' by Philip Hesselton. He draws some odd conculsions at the end of the book and indulges in some subjective truths and guesswork, but Gods, does he do his research! I've never seen photos of Dorothy CLutterbuck before...

Absolutely; if anyone knows, it will be Phillip Hesleton.

Philip Heselton's "Gerald Gardner and the Cauldron of Inspiration" talks about it some more. I was under the impression that the group put on plays they had written themselves mostly.
