I found this great page for Rune Charms and just had to share it with you!

interesting site. . . quite a few sigils are similar to ones ive come up with. the one sex attract other sex or same sex ones are particularly interesting. . . .

in some ways, though, i have to disagree with permanent tattoos of runes. of course, Odhinn will do what he does but is it anything you could escape anyway? i think certain runes are wonderful for boosting things (yes thats very vague, ahwell) and then there are other runes that are just no-nos. . . like Isa on me--eh, no thanks

lol :) Nehelia can you imagine getting the whole rune aett's tattooed onto your body?! i knew a guy who had all of them over his back  he was crazy for Odin!

I havent really used that many Rune Charms ~ a few that Rick has added to Magick ~ you should check them out!...
But Im planning to!
Have you found the ones youve used to be succesful?
:)

I take it youve got a set? How long have you been into the Runes?

Thanks for the sites. I'm starting a rune class next week with some serious Asatru people, I need all the help I can get!

I just bought Freya Aswynn's book, Northern Mysteries and Magick that was recommended for the class. It comes with a CD with the rune chants/sounds on it. If you can get past this Dutch woman with a very heavy accent wearing a wolf skin on her head and the strange music behind them - it's really a very good CD! The folks mentioned above have told me not to listen to track 5 - they say it's a curse. I don't think it's gonna bother me 'cause I can't understand a word she's saying............

I did make my own set a few weeks ago out of Sculpey clay (it can be baked in the oven to harden it). I carved them in the clay and then I went back and painted them after they were dry. I'm the type of learner who learns best by writing things, so it really helped me learn them.

Couldn't find my copy of that CD... but I don't remember any curses on it... what is that track called?

They kept saying it was track 4, Invocation. Although it sounds a little scary, I can't see where it's a curse. Seems to me to be a normal Norse circle casting, we do get a little carried away with hammers and swords. I believe they were really talking about track 5, which is called Nithing, because my friend mentioned that title. I honestly can't understand enough of what she is saying to figure it out. According to the CD description, that's not what it's supposed to be. Let me know what you think, if you find your CD or remember it.

I'm going to a blot for Thor tomorrow night! I'm so excited!

Freyja your runes sound really nice and special! Its so much more meaningful and effective when you make them yourself isnt it! :) I also leanrt by making mine ~ I just painted them onto some small Jasper stones I bought especially for them and have never wanted any more, they are great and very personal to me.

Track 5 sounds like a big suspiscion to me ;)

Ive got Freya Aswynn's book on Rune Principles but no more ~ Ill look out for that one now because it always comes strongly recommended and I didnt know it came with a CD too :)

I have made it a practice to try and make all of my magickal tools. My first one was a besom made from a bunch of willow dumped in my yard at a new moon after a storm. I also made my wand (and damn near cut my finger off doing so, it has blood on it, real personal), and my BOS cover. I grew herbs this year, too. I want to make a set of runes out of gemstones also. These things seem to have so much more power and meaning when we make them ourselves, I agree.

Wow! sounds as though you have some beautiful tools there! I have always wanted to make my own besom and have actually being thinking that this is to be my new project when the weather fairs up a bit and I can go walking in the woods again! :)
I love to grow herbs but must have died due to the really cold weather over here :( I guess I should of looked after them more. Ill get some more this summer and try again :)
I have too made my own wand out of a willow branch I found on a summer walk last year :) I love willow to carve with its so soft isnt it & I made my own staff out of an oak branch I found and carved the runes onto it down one side :)
Gemstones do really work with runes as they add extra energy and power I feel :) I hope your new set turns out lovely! & if you have a camera theres a thread lying about here somewhere that Ill just now bump up for you that would be of interest ;)

Happy Thor'ing to both of ya :D

i like noses.

>Nehelia can you imagine getting the whole rune aett's tattooed >onto your body?!

actually, yes. . . im still thinking of getting them spiralling up my left arm and then important sigils down my right arm, but i wont do that for a few years until things are more "set" between the Teutonic deities and little ol me

>I havent really used that many Rune Charms ~ a few that Rick >has added to Magick ~ you should check them out!...
>But Im planning to!
>Have you found the ones youve used to be succesful?

i tend to only use rune sigils ive created myself, though rick's did give me a lot of new ideas. in general ive found the ones i use to be successful, but the more complicated they are, the more longterm and erm . . . complicated their effects are. it also REALLY depends on your intent--if you arent focusing on it directly manifesting within a specified length of time, the effects seem to be diffuse. but many rune sigils i created with the purpose of having a long-term delayed effect, so i guess it's working

>I take it youve got a set? How long have you been into the >Runes?

i had a lovely amethyst set in high school which my father found and took because "it was satanic". . . i shudder to think of what happened to them. so because of that my runic studies were delayed. . . i finally picked up another amethyst set about two years ago and did a lot of personal work with them before laying a strong "traditional" foundation. i recently made a fire rune set that works sooo wonderfully and i am planning on making a bone rune set (as soon as i find enough bones) and a tree bark set. so ive been seriously into them for perhaps two years. . . and will be into them for many lives to come. and you?

i know i used to wish i had those fancy silver and crystal wands that expensive occult stores always seem to carry, but ever since i started making my own i havent looked twice at them. Crafting your own tools is sooo the way to go!

Another 'do-it-yourselfer' here! Making your tools is like putting a bit of your fingerprint or signature into the object. You can't help but charge it with the magical energies that would enhance the tool. I'm a firm believe in making your own tools too.

I've recently used Rick's help charm and it is VERY powerful........wondering if this type of magick shouldn't also be posted here because of their association with runes?

Thanks for the reminder :) I know that when I did use the ones I did (way back last year) they were both very powerful!
ill take a look at the charms again when I have time and the need.

& if you want to post them in this room, post links to them in the stuck Runes thread, Im sure Rick wont mind at all.
