Ive been reading J.R.R. Tolkein's Lord of the Rings trilogy, Im half way through the Two Towers now and really enjoyed this epic story and the film was soo cool!
anyway ~ We have all seen the images of the runes ~ But does anyone know where they come from (I know they are made up of 4/5 different rune lanuages but which?) and what they mean?
Im so curious :)

Wish I could help but I have no idea! I did see a "Lord of the Rings" divination/tarot set in the bookstore the other day... thinking of picking it up this week... hehe Oy! Like I need another oracle! IF I find out more on the runes I'll let you know, might be fun to do a little research.

I read on a LOTR web page somewhere that he got them off of a Viking longboat found near the Thames, so I guess they're part Viking. Haven't compared the 2 tho.

Thanks guys, youve been really helpful :)
Lilu, Im going to look out for that set , that sounds really cool, I hope it works well and is really good and easy to pick up.
Storm the vikings hey! Well, Im from a viking town of York, we even have a viking museum and a long boat race with denamrk and norway every year its really great.. so ill look into it when I have a little more time and maybe research some comparisons.
Thanks so much!
