I've recently heard of a religion called Palo Mayombe, it's an African-derived religion with, i think, some Hispanic or Latino elements (like Sateria is, i think?), but does anyone here know any more about this, or even practice it. I'd like to learn a bit more about this religion, but i'm not sure where to start, are there any good sites or books on it?.
Thanks for any help you can give me :).

It is very difficult to obtain any books that are actually reliable on Palo. The best thing would be to find a practitioner and talk to them. There are in some ways more restrictions in Palo than in the other traditions and it is vital to get the advice and guidance from a trustworthy person when connecting with these Spirits (well, in some ways the same could be said about the other ones too). There are also quite a few taboos with this path and that also is why it is good to listen to the advice of reliable elders. Saying this, there are email lists out there which are specifically related to this religion, but remembering that there is alot that is said about this which is to be taken with a very large grain of salt.

Hmm well according to Santeria by Migene Gonzalas Wippler Palo is a lot more to do with spellwork than religion. She says that generally there are two kinds of Palo practictioners. "Christian" or baptized Palo and "unbaptized" Palo practictioners. The empahsis seems to be focused on working with the dead (but there are other spirits that they work with) and the good ones will only work with good spirits. There is a boook on Palo but it's hard tofind and kind of pricey it's called The Book on Palo by Raul Canizares. I never read it but I did read his book Cuban Santeria and it was wonderful. Hope this helps.

Palo sounds interesting, and i'd like to learn a bit more about it, plus thanks for the books you mentioned, would you recommend Cuban Santeria, as i'd like to learn a bit more about African/Latino/Hispanic paths.
Thanks again.
