Since our ancestors are so important to us, maping out our genealogies (to some of us) is a big deal. Ofcourse we have to keep in mind that histories recording of genealogy is not always correct. I have many individuals in my family tree that appear in the Sagas/Heimskringla & the Anglo-Saxon Chronicles. I'm trying to learn more about them and obtain pictures of drawings or statues errected in their names for my ancestral altar.

#1 Do you think any of the individuals written about were purely mythical? I don't go as far as including gods into my genealogy, I'm referring to the vikings & kings who are generally accepted as having been actual people....even Sigurd Fafnesbane.

#2 Who are you proud to be related to that you'd added them to an altar or blot them on occasion?

I feel strongly that these people should be remembered in my home.

My Nordic ancestory has been traced to a Norse family that left Norway and settled in Yorvik (York). We've not been able to trace roots to anybody famous however.

But my ancestroy is very important to me, we need to respect where we cam from. Without a proper understanding of the past we can not realy understand who we are today.
