I came across this collection of photos (http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/12/7/04913/9030) over at Daily Kos just now; they're fairly high-quality, full-color photographs from all walks of life in the US before the Second World War. Definately worth a look or three.

I had seen US Army Air Corp color photos of WW2 but this is the first civilian pre-war pictures i'v seen. But it messed up on the third photo. I was suprised that there was no smog over NYC. Great pictures.

I did a bit more poking around and actually found the complete archive of them (http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/fsachtml/fsacsubjindex1.html); there's hundreds, and a lot of them are pretty spectacular.
