The number crops up again and again....Odin hangs upon Yggdrassil for 9 nights,There are 9 worlds, The major festival at Uppsala was every 9 years with 9 male sacrifices of each species, Frey has to wait 9 nights to lie with Gerd, Thor will kill Jormungad at Ragnarok and stagger back 9 paces before succumbing, Draupnir provides 8 more rings every 9 night, making 9 in total. 3 is a magickal number all over the globe, is this simply why 9 is so crucial, 3 multiplied by itself.....or are there other meanings and significance attributed to 9 solely on its own with no reference to being a multiple of 3?x

To me, nine is a number of wholeness and endurance, and the closest number to infinity. Here's a neat little tidbit: any number multiplied by nine will have a numerological sum of nine. For example, nine times four equals 36 and three plus six equals nine. Nine times 113 equals 1,017 and one plus zero plus one plus seven equals nine. In this way, the number nine comes back to itself every time. Get it? If you really want to get into numerological symbolism though, you want to be a mathematician.
