Harriet Nahanee, the hereditary chief of the Squamish Nation in coastal British Columbia, died Saturday night in the hospital due to pneumonia and complications due to undiagnosed lung cancer. She was 71 years old. She was a warrior woman who fought for the rights of those who could not fight for themselves. During protests at EagleRidge Bluff las year, she was arrested and sentenced to two weeks in prison.
Its sad that we lose people like her, the fighters of the important stuff, like the animals, earth and people. She left big shoes to fill and my thougths and Light go out to her family and friends and the people of the Squamish Nation.
