I just wanted to know what people think about dreaming as a method of divination. Is anyone any good at dream analysis, or controlling their own dreams? Or does anyone ask a question before they sleep and wake up with the answer?

I hear that dreaming is an excellent form of divination if you can do it. I've never been too successful. I astral projected one time before going to sleep but thats as close as I came. Good question.

I have had prophetic dreams. The interpretation is totally up to you though. No book will give you the answer. My prophetic dreams are usually full of symbolism, in either what I am doing, or what is happening in the dream around me.

I had a dream a couple months ago about an ex~ that suddenly dumped me, went back to his ex and married her. In the dream, we were having a conversation that there was nothing he could do about us getting back together until after the new year. Well, just a month ago, him and his wife seperated and are getting a divorce. The guys' sister knew about my dream, I told her right after I had it, and now <snicker> she jests me about being her new psychic! :D That dream wasn't too symbolic, it was pretty much straight forward.

Another dream I had about a different ex: we were walking seperate paths that were joined, but seperated by a wall. These paths were winding tunnels, side by side. At the end of the tunnels were the light and us re-uniting. I was walking in my tunnel with my roommate, but as I approached the end of the tunnel, where the light was shining in she stopped and I had to travel the rest of the way by myself. I knew we were coming together again, but he didn't really know....it was like a waiting period for me....for him to realize that he still wanted me in his life, so I was kept out of sight.

Well, we did get back together. My roommate moved out shortly before he came back into my life. She was there supporting me all the way. Weird how dreams can be so accurate....yet you may not see it until after it has come to pass. :D

A dream journal is a wonderful thing!

Manipulating the dreams are fine if they aren't prophetic. I tend to know the difference. The prophetic ones sick in my mind deeper, and are easier to recall upon waking. Other dreams are just flighty and I can usually control what it is I want to happen in them. I don't know how I do it, I just do. I think part of my conscious is still alert during my dreaming process. I know when I can tamper and when I am to observe.

:D

Hope this helped! :D

At one point, I did a dream interpretation class for a club that I was a part of. If you wan't I'd be happy to go ahead and toss some of that info up on here. :D

Aside from that, about half of my visions come from my dreams. Dream journals are great!

Hi all!
Really enjoyed reading your posts :D Great idea to start this thread Elm!
Cydira I'm sure everyone would be really interested in what you know!

I've always belived in the power of dreams and interperated them with my own personal meanings ~ I used to write a dream journal as a child and just started writting one again recently!

I have had a few reaccuring dreams since childhood and on one theme inparticular ~ just recently the penny dropped!
Ive been dreaming allot about my spirit guide/inner goddess ~ she teaches me, guides me, and shows me the answers to the questions I ask in my daily life ~ especially about spirituality!

Yes, I do ask questions in my dreams ~ When I have the time I do meditate and ask before falling to sleep ~ when I do this I 9 times out of 10 have the vivid dream bearing my answer!
I have also seen a few things in my dreams that came true the next day or very shortly afterwards ~ I don't know how or why this happened though? Can anyone tell me why?

I have had success at controlling my dreams in the past ~ asking to dream of a certain subject, animal, time, situation ~ I'm not sure how I do this ~ just meditate and visualise the dream.
I have also worked with picking objects up and moving around in my dream ~ but I find this only happens when I spend a great deal of time thinking about dreaming and meditating.

I'm sure everyone has woken up early in the morning and thought 'Mm why did I wake up? I was just getting to the best bit.. I want to carry on with that dream..' then fallen back to sleep and its actually carried on!! This is dream control ~ you can do it!! Like all things it just needs time and effort!

:D

I do believe that one may use dreaming as a method of divination. I would be happy to help you interpret your dreams, if you wish. As others have noted already, and I agree, that dream journals are wonderful to keep. It's really useful to have, at any rate.

And, yes, I have asked questions before going to sleep, but I also prepare myself before sleep when I do this. I will drink a cup of warm rosemary or chamomile tea, light a candle and do a bit of a ritual, asking whatever it is at that time I need an answer to, then I'm off to bed! Sometimes I remember when I awake and there have been a few times I haven't. I just took that as a sign I wasn't in need of knowing the answer at that time and it will be revealed to me when it is time.

Experiment and find out for yourself. And, if you keep a journal, there are different options you may have. I found it difficult to always write the dreams down, so I kept a mini cassette recorder by the bed and spoke into it. That worked for me. Happy dreaming!!
