you can always use the "search" option and check for topics before ya post threads if that helps.

other than knowing some people are VERY hairy and some people dont sleep much around a full moon, nah, i dont really believe in warewolves.

Yea, that pretty much my take on it. Though they do make good sci-fi and horror fodder.

I've meet people that claim to have seen them.

Of course not a one can back up there claim and get offended when you demand proof.

Those that claim to be a werewolf when pushed admit it's only on the Astral Plane. *yawn*

Well, I am pretty sure some folks have seen movies, such as "The 13th Warrior", where there is some historical backing of certain mythology.

The concept of werewolves, most likely, began as a clan in ancient times, and seeing how deeply seated the historical tales of werewolves run throughout slavic mythology, I would assume it was a Slavic clan that started the myth...

Dressing in Wolf skins, donning the head dresses of wolves, and howling madly to inspire fear, and give them a psychological edge in battles against other clans. Wanting the enemies to actually think they WERE supernatural forces, and took on supernatural aspects of creatures that were feared.

I doubt that there actually *ARE* people who turn into some kind of wolf/man hybridization. I seriously doubt there ARE *real* werewolves.

There may be I don't know. I do know I've met lots of Pagans who in one way or another identify with wolves. They all annoy the living piss out of me. If there are werewolves I'd love to hunt them.

No, werewolves are not real. End of story.

Man will never fly.... The Earth IS Flat, end of story, and of course Man will never reach the moon!

Physical transformation from man to animal is a flat-out biological impossibility.

For a human.

Yes, which is what a werewolf is - a human that changes into a wolf. I'm glad we agree that it's impossible.

Depends on the type of "shift" you mean when referring to whether or not they exist. Mental shift, more than a physical shift, I'd say yes. AKA Otherkin or Therians.

there's some disease - i forget what it's called - that causes thick, coarse hair to grow all over your body, like, ALL OVER it. not just in places where it's supposed to be. people with this condition are often snapped up as sideshow attractions. my point is, this is the closest any one is going to get to becoming a werewolf. in fact, belief in werewolves may have begun with this disease. (somebody please set me straight if i'm dead wrong about this.)

BTW, shadowstalker, you might want to fix the link you posted. it took me to an online dating site.

It is http://www.werelist.com/ and the site is down as of July 18th due to server issues. They hope it will be back up and running soon though.

Alternately, do a search for 'otherkin' and you'll find lots of information regarding mental shifting or were-behaviours.

i m not sure if they r real, but i hope less people will tell me the 'no, end of story' thing... everyone believes in things they cant prove (ex, wat's gravity? wat makes magnets stick [and yes i know it's the magnetic charge, but what is the magnetic charge?]? modern physics bases everything on the belief that there's such a thing as gravity, yet no one can tell you why do matter attract matter...) well, i guess what i really want to say is, be more 'open minded' and you'll never be surprised.

and if there are real werewolves... i'd love to hunt them too! lol

Not if it was a non-human who engineered the Human's transformation. So I'm not sure who "we" is but they can't be absolutely certain. Being absolutely certain is the best way to be proven wrong.

Otherkin or Therians.

I just like mentioning them in these threads to see how many come out...instantly on the defensive....

Oh as for werewolves, couldn't say, never met a real one.

Actual physical change?

No.

But if you are in a culture that acommodates such a paradigm a mental shift can be affective enough to convince others to see you in the mental form you are projecting.

And when push comes to bite that's what counts really.
