One of my favorite sentences of all time is:
"This can lead to death, etc..."
I'm a big etc. fan, actually. (=

Well perhaps insanity or even death brings a new and very interesting perspective? Who knows, it could be very interesting.
Nice one mate

It does and is. But saying that it's uncomfortable would be the understatement of the year ^_^;;

The pros and cons of entering a "Medicine Path" can be summed up as follows:
1. Nobody said it would be easy.
2. You will walk where Angels fear to tread.

I definately don't see any sources. Hopefully other people aren't so easily persauded.

Thread resurection because I'm curious. Sources for what exactly? That practicing some forms of shamanism (or more accurately some shamanic practices and experiences) can cause death, insanity or other negative (or percieved negative) things to happen to a person?
It kind of begs the question of how many practicing shaman's you've spoken with.

I would be greatly interested in where that person got their info.
In all my years, I've never heard death or dismemberment mentioned...
However... it has been said by my teacher that one CAN and some HAVE lost their minds and or souls during particularly difficult journeys into otherworlds. (loss of a soul is not death... it is an Illness from which it is nearly impossible to recover.)
Mind you... it is also said that these unfortunate folks were not trained in what they were attempting, nor assisted by someone who had experience in it and/or were acting in self-glorifying ways....(is that how i want to say that? well... for now... it'll do)
