what a cool find!
i'm not surprised the thieves left it behind, as stealing artifacts is a capital offense in Turkey.
i like what it said about serving to remind us that these ancient cities that we think of as mostly shades of white would have been brightly painted in their day.

Thanks for the tip about clicking on the editor's note. The colored pictures looked so beautiful. It's neat to see what ancient worked looked like painted, particularly, as Greenman noted, that the white marble sculptures would have been elaborately decorated in antiquity. Thanks for the link.
