Greetings! I have been researching Europe's history, primarily Switzerland, where my roots are, and wondered if anyone had info regarding this country and paganism roots when it was known as Helvetia (before becoming the Swiss Federation).
Thanks
Rowan

Hi...

Unfortunately I haven't been able to locate much info for you regarding this topic. Most of the information I found by searching Google.com, was about how Christianity came to that area. I'm sorry I can't be of more help.

However, if you go to www.google.com and type in Helvetia + Paganism, some of the links they provide MAY provide you with a few clues...though it didn't look too promising to me. Good Luck.

I've been continuing to look for good links for you, but haven't found much (and I know Greenman is looking, too.).

I think that the area of Helvetia was kind of a melting pot of differen't influences prior to Christianity. What I have found so far, discusses the Celtic Tribes, and their influence on Helvetia, and similarities to the Ancient Etruscans, and then, the Roman invasion.

So perhaps to get a better clue as to what the pagan religions of the area were like there, you could look further into those three pagan branches. Sorry that I can't give you more information.

Danustouch and Greenman, just want to say thank you for your interest! I had been to this massive index of historical research and found a bit there but not of the pagan issue, you are right lots of Christianity stuff and it was a melting pot area, so i will continue my quest also! again thankyou

a sincerely thankful Rowan
