This week lets talk about dreams.

What do you think is the biggest reason or cause of one remembering dreams?

How about using them?

Interpreting them?

What do you think people need to know about how to use their dreams or dream space?

What helps or hinders?

What do you think is the biggest reason or cause of one remembering dreams? From my own experience if you remember a dream it's because it's trying to tell you something. It might be a warning about a situation you're currently in. They can be a lesson in the form of a story. Or show you how you'd react to something happening in your life that you might not expect. (and sometimes because it's just weird! I call them junk dreams and seem to get them a lot when I drink alcohol or have messed up my sleeping pattern).

How about using them? Once you have a dream about something and remember it, your mind starts to think about all the possibilities. You make connections and formulate a plan. So then when life throws something similar at you, you already know how you'd react.

Interpreting them? Sometimes people dream in true form, everything means exactly what it appears to mean... but more often people (myself included) dream in symbols. It gets tricky to interpret symbols sometimes because they mean something different to everyone, the best advice I can give is to just go with how it makes you feel.

What do you think people need to know about how to use their dreams or dream space? Write it down, if it doesn't make sense now it might later.

What helps or hinders? Things that help, bouncing ideas off of others... like the people here in MW's dreams and divination forum. Recording your dream in a dream journal. Or researching symbols on your own if you've never encountered them before.
Things that hinder, having too static an idea... you have to be dynamic and sometimes it takes a bit of creativity to make sense of things. Also expecting an answer, it won't always be immediate, and it won't always be the answer you desire.

Wow, think I answered everything! :T

What do you think is the biggest reason or cause of one remembering dreams?I think if I'm allowed to wake up on my own, as opposed to somone shaking me or my damn alarm clock pissing me off, then I tend to remember my dreams easier. The ones that stick with me seem to be the really strange ones, or the ones that feel "real". I try to remember to write them down and I need to be better about keeping a journal near my bed. :)

How about using them? Interpreting them? The way that I use and / or interpret them is to really just think about what is going on in my life that might be related to the symbols used in the dream. I try to remember the feelings that the symbols inspired in the dream. If it is particularly cloudy or scary, I'll often ask for some help. I see dreams like divination sometimes, we might be too close to it to interpret it correctly and sometimes our friends and loved ones see the situation more clearly and can point out things we've missed.

I also often have dreams about friends. For instance, I recently had a dream where I saw one of my friends and his hair was falling out. He was balding as I was watching him. I wrote an email telling him what I'd seen. He wrote back that he had cut his hair so short that it was practically shaved off.
What do you think people need to know about how to use their dreams or dream space? What helps or hinders?I don't know. It would be nice if someone would tell ME. ;)

I deleted it because it was off topic.

For the record it was regarding not wanting to dream when you have prophetic dreams and how they can mess you up.

often what helps you remember a dream is the waking

not being jolted (alarm, phone, partner, dog, cat etc)

and then writing it down, with out even getting out of bed, with out changing anything

and learning how to listen to your self

I think the biggest thing for people to use and interp dreams is simply to DO THE WORK themselves. A rat may mean something nice to you, like a pet, smart, friend, inquisitive etc. To me a rat means something VERY different, I do not like rats, I have zero desire to hear how "amazing they are" etc.

People need to spend time learning how they think, how they process information, and what it means to them.

Things like the temperature of a room, the noises from outside, the tv on, people partying next door, kids coming and going, how well rested you were BEFORE this sleep period, what you ate, how you feel, if you drank, if you took a sleep aide, or drugs, or even antihistimines or aspirin.... the list goes on and on and on and on and on

will effect how you sleep, what stages of sleep you are able to get to, how long you stay in them, and what kind of messages you may get

there is no simple answer, it really is like anything else within your body you need to take responsibility for yourself

start with in :)
