Hey Newbies,
Do you learn best when you have a schedule to follow or "homework" to do? Do you like reading, researching, and studying? Or do you just want ideas for simple exercises, prompts for journalling, or maybe just a friend who can listen to your thoughts and give you a different perspective? Do you have a couple hours to devote to studying your chosen Pagan path, and are you hoping to work with a reconstructionist path like Kemeticism or Hellenism (Ancient Egyptian or Greek respectively)? Or are you learning about New Age ideas, just checking out what's available in Paganism, or happily eclectic?

--I like having homework better, because my schedule right now is hectic enough, so I wouldn't want to be put on one.

--I like to read a lot and to study. Reading is best for me, since I don't like to get on the internet for hours upon hours to research. Prompts for journaling are great too, since I already do that in school a lot. I like having a friend who will listen to what I think and help guide me. So, I basically like all of these ideas.

--I haven't picked a specific path to follow yet, but I am looking around at all of them a bit. I do like Green Witchcraft right now and am interested in learning more about that. I can study for hours if I am reading something in a book or paper, but I can't study for hours on the internet, maybe just a half and hour or so every other day.

I think homework works well for me, yes. As long as it doesn't conflict to badly with my college agenda.
Do you like reading, researching, and studying?
Yes, very much. :)
Or do you just want ideas for simple exercises, prompts for journalling, or maybe just a friend who can listen to your thoughts and give you a different perspective?
All would be welcome. :)
Do you have a couple hours to devote to studying your chosen Pagan path,
Again, as long as it doesn't conflict with college.
and are you hoping to work with a reconstructionist path like Kemeticism or Hellenism (Ancient Egyptian or Greek respectively)?
Yes.
Or are you learning about New Age ideas, just checking out what's available in Paganism, or happily eclectic?
Sure, sure, sure. I'm pretty open-minded, but I do have a general direction I want to go (Celtic recon).

A schedule helps, as long as it isn't too strict. :)

All of those sound good. I love to research. Having someone experienced to discuss things with would be great.

I do have time to spare. Although there will be times when life gets busy and I won't have as much time. I don't know what path I'm working towards, I haven't really found anything that "fits".

I like homework - I learn by doing. Research, I have time for. Only mild interest in Recon, mostly in Wicca/neopaganism.

Homework would be lovely. I need help structuring my study. I love researching and studying on my own. I also could use exercises to help me build my spirituality out of my research. I have some time, but not a huge amount, at least for the next two months. Then I'll have all kinds of time. Reconstructionism interests me, Asatru in particular, but I don't think I want to be a full reconstructionist.

I like having homework, or questions to anwser. I am pretty relaxed about scheduling.
Do you like reading, researching, and studying? Or do you just want ideas for simple exercises, prompts for journalling, or maybe just a friend who can listen to your thoughts and give you a different perspective?
I love reading, studying, and researching. I guess I would like a combo of all the above. I am pretty flexible when it comes to my learning style. I dash of each is prefect for me.
Do you have a couple hours to devote to studying your chosen Pagan path, and are you hoping to work with a reconstructionist path like Kemeticism or Hellenism (Ancient Egyptian or Greek respectively)?
Yes, I have a couple of hours for studying my chosen path. Um, I don't think I will be practicing a recon path anytime soon. However, I am not close to it, but at the moment I just don't have any desire to follow one. But if I were to follow one, it would Irish Celtic Reconstruction ;)
Or are you learning about New Age ideas, just checking out what's available in Paganism, or happily eclectic?
Um, I guess I could call myself a bit eclectic.

Yes to both.
Do you like reading, researching, and studying?
Yes, this is what I have already been doing.

Those sound like good ideas too, I really like new perspectives, they can be refreshing.

I have plenty of time on my hands in between watching the kids. I've been checking out what's available and have a variety of interests including, celtic druidism, herbs/remedies and magical properties, tarot, dreams, spells, tapping into psychic powers just to name a few.

'Twas suggested to me that I fill this out. Couldn't hurt. ^_^
Do you learn best when you have a schedule to follow or "homework" to do? Most definitely. The more structured, the better. It keeps me focused, and allows me to not only complete homework, but to go above and beyond what was scheduled or what was assigned.
When I have waaay too much freedom, I tend to wander aimlessly. I like to have something (even something abstract) laid down before me to walk, or else I'll stray too far from the point, and I find when that happens my growth (in any aspect of my life) is stunted, because I become much too preoccupied with other things. This way, I'm certain I will get a lot out of the experience.
Do you like reading, researching, and studying? Or do you just want ideas for simple exercises, prompts for journalling, or maybe just a friend who can listen to your thoughts and give you a different perspective? I like both. I absolutely love reading, researching, and studying. I get a lot out of it. I love to be informed, and I think doing those things really accomplishes that. I'm very eager, so a lot of material isn't an issue.
However, I also like ideas for simple exercises and journaling and the such, because in addition to the structural things it helps me find my own ideas and my own way. I like to dabble in both sides.

Or are you learning about New Age ideas, just checking out what's available in Paganism, or happily eclectic?I've done a lot of looking into paths, but haven't found the right one yet, perhaps because I haven't dug deep enough into them or they simply didn't feel right at the time. I've looked into Kemeticism and Wicca primarily, and that (unfortunately) is the extent of my experience besides a little research for a school project about the sect of Satanism that devotes itself to Lilith. But that hardly counts as learning.
I'm interested in learning about everything that Paganism and the "occult" has to offer, such as tarot, healing, astrology, etc.
I'm really a blank slate, so I really don't have any specifics. ^_^;;

For me i like just having someone to talk to and give me a bit of guidance and exercises. i don't have a space to practice and i don't have much time to because my family is mostly christian and very conservative (my dad's a lot better at understanding [can't wait to move in with him!!]) and if my mom found out i'd be pretty much kicked out. she already threw out the book i was reading on Wicca saying "your inviting bad spirits in the house that harm will harm your sisters."
(like i'd ever hurt my family)
anyway, sorry for the rant
just looking for someone who will just listen and talk with me, give me suggestions and excersises i can do in my room or something (there's more on the newbie check in thing)

I like having homework, but without the rigid schedule because my life is already scheduled to the brim. Homework should be more of a - do this thing because doing it will help you learn it. I'm a learn by doing kind of person - problem is I don't know what I should be doing! I also want a friend in a mentor though, a guide. I don't know what path I want to follow, I'm in the process of finding out, but it's a hard long road.

Scheduals are nice, but should be flexible. Some things take longer or less time to learn than others, and life can sometimes get in the way. If it's a research project, I may have a hard time finding info. So like I said, scheduals are nice, but should be flexible.
Homework is also nice. Specifics are wonderful..lol..like Asuka, if things aren't specified to some degree, I tend to wander aimlessly. That's one of the biggest reasons I want a mentor, to add a little structure to my learning process.
Do you like reading, researching, and studying? Or do you just want ideas for simple exercises, prompts for journalling, or maybe just a friend who can listen to your thoughts and give you a different perspective?
I LOVE LOVE LOVE reading and researching!! But the whole package deal above is VERY important in a mentor. I like specifics, like research and such, but having someone to bounce ideas off of is also important. I would never want to be afraid to ask my mentor to deviate from the schedual to find out more about a topic that isn't on the lesson plan, but has recently caught my interest.
Do you have a couple hours to devote to studying your chosen Pagan path, and are you hoping to work with a reconstructionist path like Kemeticism or Hellenism (Ancient Egyptian or Greek respectively)?
Thanks to the alternate schooling program I'm in, I only go to school from 1:30 to 4:15 mon-thurs. I don't have homework, and other than my BoS that I'm currently working on, I have not extra projects. So in short, yes. I do have at least a few hours every day to devote to studying my Path.
Or are you learning about New Age ideas, just checking out what's available in Paganism, or happily eclectic?
I'm definately happily eclectic. But I want to learn about everything (lol..don't I sound eager?..lol) I'm always up for learning about the specifics of different paths and different religions, as long as I don't feel pressured to incorperate any specific thing into my beliefs. Because I'm eclectic, I take what fits me and weave it into my Path. But I don't know everything that fits me, becuase I'm still learning.
Once again, like Asuka said...Blank slate over here. Want to learn. just don't have a direction to go in. A mentor that could help with that would be HUGELY welcomed!
Thank you

Do you learn best when you have a schedule to follow or "homework" to do?
Well I don't have my own computer, so a schedule wouldn't work too great right now. But homework is a good way to learn.

I love reading, researching, & studying. It helps me learn better to read & copy things down & learn from that. Prompts for journalling would be nice too.

Yes I have a few hours to devote to studying & I have a few books on Wicca/Witchcraft. I would like to openly learn about many paths until I chose one & so far I'm leaning toward Green Witchcraft.

I was there before. I found that in cases like those, the best homework is picking your brain about specific beliefs and ideas.
For example, It wasn't that I didn't know what I was looking for, I just didn't know where to start nor where to look for it.
If you need help, just ask! I'd be glad to mentor you.

Do you learn best when you have a schedule to follow or homework to do?
I like homework, structured and extesive, but I prefer it to be usefull and practical.I want to shape my life and take destiny in my own hands. You will find in me a very loyal and devoted student.
Do you like reading, researching, and studying? Or do you just want ideas for simple exercises, prompts for journalling, or maybe just a friend who can listen to your thoughts and give you a different perspective?
I'm a bookworm and a librarian.I'm thirsty for learning and knowledge.I also need friends, and someone to listen to my intuitive thoughts.I have some natural gifts from birth like, when I get close enough to someone, and I am fond of them,I (sometimes) dream about the way and date they will die like profetic dreams. And the dreams always matched reality. It's scary I know,I had my first one in 7th grade, when I was 13,a good classmate named violet died before the graduation exams, and 2 weeks before I dreamed about her running in a white dress, then a flash came after with a white coffin being dragged out of the Red Cross ambulance. And it happened exactly(imagistic) as I dreamed. The dress in my dream was exactly the same in reality, the coffin was white, they took her out of the ambulance in it.I had a shock of deja vue.I felt so guilty I started to cry.Another natural(tested) gift I have is healing.I can take pain away and make someone's health better. But I don't know how I do it,what exactly is the process?I'm into educated study so I want to understand how I work, how everything works. The third gift is that I seem to have a kind of very strong intuition,if I may call it like that.Sometimes I feel what will happen.Awake and tensed it's the feeling.I would like to learn more about it.

I have a job and university, but I'm always conected to MW.I have time for study in the afternoons and almost all nights(which I think are days in US).So I devote a lot of time studying.I shall be getting a laptop for my birthday next month so I'll go and study in my beautiful park nearby,to be close to nature and same time to MW,and friends(hail to wireless).Thank you to all the mentors out there for having the patience to listen.Thank you.

Well I hate sitting in front of my computer all day just looking through sites. That and I never know which once at legit and which ones are just blowing smoke up my a**. Simple exercises and person to just chat with about it is the best for me. I don't really have a choosen path...I'm still learning about a few that interest me so I kinda do my own thing right now.

1. honework is great. i could live with or without without schedules.
2. all of the above, but having someone to talk to is a little more helpful.
3. i have lots of time on my hands.
im not a druid yet, but i would like to acheive it someday. i have read, and read, and read some more. i dabble in herbs, for healing and whatnot. my knowledge is swiss cheese compared to what i would like it to be, and i havent found any pagans where i live so we could share ideas along the way.
