Watch out! Rampaging illiterate on the loose! what the heck is dragons blood/bane? I've heard of it's use in some spells and such, but nobody seems to know if it's an oil, herb, rock, ect. if anybody has a clue (and if it's an herb, what it looks like) would they please reply?

I am only familiar with Dragon's Blood Incense which I BELIEVE (don't quote me!) comes from the tree called Dragon's Blood. You can also get it in resin, and I have seen Dragon's Blood Tree Sap before too, and heard of it in "gum" form, which I'm assuming is the sap?
I use Dragon's Blood Incense for cleansing and protection.
That's all I know in the subject though.

This is from Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs
Dragon's Blood
(Daemonorops draco; Dracaena spp.)
Gender: Masculine
Planet: Mars
Element: Fire
Powers: Love, Protection, Exorcism, Potency
This resin from a palm tree is burned to entice errant lovers to return. This is usually done by women seated near an open window, looking outside at night.
A stick of dragon's blood placed under the pillow or mattress will cure impotency.
The dried resin is a powerful protectant when carried, sprinkled around the house, or smoldered as incense. It will also drive evil and negativity away when burned.
A pinch of dragon's blood added to other incenses increases their potency and power.
To quiet a noisy house, powder some dragon's blood, mix it with sugar and salt, and place in a bottle. Cover this tightly and secure somewhere in your house where it won't be found. You'll have peace and quite.

I've heard it said that this or is it Dove's Blood (not really a Dove's Blood) is mixed with ink and if you are the type that writes spells on parchment and then burns them, this is what you write it with.
Just a thought.

I have Dragon's Blood ink that I write spells in. I've heard that Dove's Blood ink is best used in love spells.

I too was going to quote from Cunninghams Encylopedia of Magical Herbs. It can be found in most metaphysical shops or on-line in the form of oils, incense, resin or ink. I imagine it also comes as an herb but I have never seen it packaged and sold like that. It smells incredible-to me anyway! I also use it for protection.

Dragon's Claw is Coral Root (Corallorhiza odontohiza) & is different from the Dragon's Blood I've seen & used. I have it in the powdered resin & solid chunk. But I can't find any listing of its latin name (Daemonorops draca) nor common name anywhere - not in any of my herb books, library, & even checked at the herbal college here in town. Other than what I've seen listed in Cunningham's book - that's it. Now I'm intrigued...

There are a couple different possibilities.
Dragon's Blood Sedum
Scientific Name: Sedum spurium
Dragon's Blood Palm
Daemonorops draco
This one has listed magickal properties such as all the Cunningham stuff.
Here's a definintion from a dictionary, Dragon's Blood: NOUN : 1. A red, resinous substance obtained from the fruit of a climbing palm (Daemonorops draco) of tropical Asia, formerly used in the manufacture of varnishes and lacquers. 2. Any of several resins similar to this substance.
Hope this helped.
Love and trust,

From a local new age store I have purchased Dragon's blood oil (smells good). I hadn't realized what the source for the stuff was though, thanks for that info you guys (always fun to learn something new).

One of my friends uses it for astral projection. He says it works pretty darn well. Go figure.
