Raven Kaldera describes a Shamanic journeying technique the s/he uses. S/He describes it as...

'one opens a door and draws the other world in, so that it is superimposed upon this one. The two worlds exist, for that time, in the same space. (I suppose one could pull in more than one other world, but that would be so confusing and difficult as to be not worth the effort.) By doing this, you can walk around in both worlds at once. You can move physically through both, but you have to constantly keep the door open and the other world anchored in. It's actually much more difficult than just walking out of your body. When you do this sort of thing, stuff gets warped in the physical world. On our plane, that hill is thirty paces away; in the other world, the nearest hill-like thing is one hundred paces away. Even though your body still has one foot in this world, it will still take you a hundred paces to get over there. Don't ask me how it works; suffice it to say that it does. Seeing the other world with your physical eyes is something that you get used to; you align your eyes with your inner gaze, which can see the other world clearly (at least mine can) and eventually they catch up.'

I have heard of one other person speak of a journeying technique like this on a discussion list years ago. Does anyone here at MW know much about it?

Well...I worked with that naturally , after an
Otherworld crossing experience...to the point
my woman - friend , at the time...quite far
along on her own path...would tell me I
blinked physically , in and out...one moment
fully here...the next , what she called , very
transparent , then literally blinking like a
light...appearing / disappearing...between
worlds...I always felt like I couldn't make
the full crossing...if I did...I would no longer
be here...physically...but I could see , and
experience...fully...

I just wanted to step across...not come back...

That is a lot like how Raven Kaldera described it.

not that specifically, sometimes, when i go into deep meditation with intent to visit one of my spirit friends, i think i'm kinda sorta but not really sure if i am traveling. i justuse whatever comes into my mind, most of the time when it comes to seeing the otherworlds and entering them, although i like to enter through a series of gates to get me really deep in. for some reason i always feel like i'm going down to the level of spirit, never up.

That sounds like a very cool experience.

Some shamans will dance their animal - let their guides and companions join them in their body and enjoy the feeling of physical movement.

I have a companion that likes to join me when I take walks early in the morning for the same reason - just to remember the wind and the smells and the muscles moving. When he is with me I see with my eyes and with his - it is similar to what she describes, one vision overlayed on top of the other - one world, perceived two ways. Sometimes he will fly up for a better view then quickly return and that is... dizzying haha.

how does it really go on the other side of morning . . . I got a preatty little rock that makes me have crazy dreams that seem more real than here and now . . . I think I'm waking up . . . I had a dream that I got up to take a bathroom break and felt very refreshed when I went back to sleep in this world and awoke to find myself wanting to go back to being awake or asleep or just not dreaming anymore . . . I hate being sober and alchol makes no medicine its merely worsens the symptoms of the reality I've become somehow . . . gotta wake up gotta breathe gotta feel alive . .. maybe next you hear from me I'll be awakening you . .. I tend to feel very real on the other sides. Sometimes I'm facing conflict others I'm just enjoying myself and yet others I dont know what to think . . . in my most recent journey I found myself in a very familiar place next to my wife awakening as if from a dream and going to relieve myself as described above only it was in a house I'd never seen before in this plane but it seemed so familiar . . . I cant explain it like an old victorian style home on this timeline or near it . . . and it was no regular dream I awoke with the usual hot flash and disorienting feel of post travel . . . but I often feel as though I belong more on the other side than here . . . if only I knew how to be more concious there I could learn to enjoy my stay and learn a few things . . . I've tried salvia and other substances but the bes I can do is merging this with other planes . . . really freeky but not much help . . . and meditation only gets me so far . . . is there something I'm missing . ..
