I normally post over in the Tarot section because I primarily use the Tarot, but I also read playing cards, Runes, am learning to read Cowrie shells (lots of work there), and often, to get a feel for the dynamics of a person's situation/life, I read their elements. To do this, I have 16 stones, 4 blue (water), 4 green (earth), 4 yellow (air), and 4 red (fire). There are a few different ways to read these. First, for a quick look at the energy that is currently dominant in a person's life, I'll simply draw one stone from my bag. This is also useful for helping to determine what area to focus on in a reading. The elements correspond with the Tarot suits. Fire=Wands, Air=Swords, Water=Cups, and Earth=Pentacles, and so the area of life to focus on corresponds with those suits as well. Then there is the 4 stone reading. I pull 4 stones from the bag, and place them in order. Each position corresponds to an element. 1=Earth, 2=Air, 3=Fire, 4=Water. The stones that land in the position tell what is going on in that area of the persons life. Knowing how elements interact with one another is absolutely necessary for this reading, as well as for the next kind. For example, Water paired with Earth is a very fertile, nurturing combination, but Water paired with Fire is not so great. The third way that I read this is to place them one by one in the same four positions, but this time, place four of each stone in the four positions, going 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4. Again, knowing how the elements interact is essential. Here you can begin to see where a person has imbalances in their life. For instance having a whole lot of Fire in their Water position may indicate some conflicts going on with emotions, or perhaps someone who is unable to keep their emotions in check (temper tantrums anyone!) The final way that I read them is to toss them onto a cloth that I've divided into four quarters. Each quarter, of course, corresponds to an element, and the interaction and balance of the stones is then read.

Just be a volunteer :) It's something I've developed myself, and am working on fleshing it out and need live volunteers for it!

Hmmm.... Good question! LOL While it doesn't give specific answers (or at least I haven't worked with it enough to do so) it does describe the elemental environment surrounding the seeker, or their question. So I suppose it could work to show the elemental dynamics of a relationship, work situation, home life, or any other situation or question you might have!

Your Earth element is the realm of home and family, and also of physical health. In this column, you see that each of the elements appear, and Earth appears first under it's own element. This would indicate to me that of all the things in your life, your home and family are your source of renewal and support. Your orientation is on family. Earth is followed by Water in this column. Earth and Water are a good combination, if not overdone, but here the Earth has not only a Water below it, but a Water right next to it. Too much Water with Earth makes mud, and you may feel stuck in the mud right now! Below that Water is a Fire. This is a good thing here, as it serves to dry out that mud a bit. You may feel stuck, but it's not a situation that you can't handle or get out of yourself! What concerns me is that the foundation, the bottom element, is Air. Air is not much of a foundation, and may leave you feeling as if things are really shaky and you're going to lose yourself all the time! This may also be an indication of some shaky health issues. Since Air has to do with thoughts, I wonder if you are prone to headaches?

Your Air element covers your thoughts, those things on your mind, and the issues that trouble you the most. Here we see Water, Fire, Earth, and Water. This element is lacking it's own element, and that's never a good think. This indicates to me a bit of avoidance. Perhaps you try to avoid dwelling on things too much, and sometimes that's a good thing, but planning is necessary at some points in our life. The predominance of Water here indicates to me that you tend to be much more emotional than logical in your decision making. You follow your heart, or your gut, rather than the practical thing to do, though the presence of the Earth does indicate that you aren't entirely living in your emotions, and are able to consider practicalities when you absolutely must! The Fire here indicates a bit of impulsivity, and that reinforces my feeling that you ten to go with your gut instincts when making decisions.

Fire is the realm of passions, creativity, new ventures, careers, and sexuality. Air, Fire, Air, and Water. Air feeds fire, so the double presence here indicates a great deal of passion. Because it's YOUR Air, this indicates to me that while you may be a very passionate sensual person, you are also very good at inspiring that feeling in others. Water here indicates that you become very emotionally attached when intimate with someone, but also that you become very emotionally invested in your projects or jobs. There is no Earth to ground you here, and that's troublesome with the abundance of Air and presence of Fire in its own element.

Finally, the Water element is the realm of your emotions. This covers how you handle overly emotional situations, and how you express your emotions. Air, Earth, Fire, Earth indicates to me that you express your emotions verbally, that perhaps you have a bit of a temper, though not too bad because there is only one Fire here, and that your emotions have a great deal of effect on your physical health. The lack of Water here is an indication of some imbalance, perhaps some suppressed emotions causing some havoc in your life at the moment.

Looking at the overall picture, we see three clusters of two elements each. This indicates some issues with elemental balance. These clusters are Air, Fire, and Water. The lack of an Earth cluster reinforces the feeling of "Walking on Air and about to fall," that was seen in the Earth element. The Air cluster is drifting to the right, the masculine side, and this indicates that you may have some issues going on in your mind about a man. The Water and Fire clusters are centered, and this indicates to me that you may be dealing with several emotional issues in your immediate present that are taking a great deal of your time and energy.

Let me know what you think! Commentary is greatly appreciated, as I'm still working on developing and fleshing this system out more!

I'm actually doing these using a deck I made up for my Orphalese Tarot program, and the pattern is intriguing! I'll have to grab a screenshot and attach it so you can see!

Since this is a specific question, regarding your work situation, I'll look at each element in relation to that.

Earth would be the practical side of work, how you handle practical decisions, the money issues, and how work affects your health. Can we say OUCH??? Two Waters, and Two Fires!!! Conflict, conflict, conflict!!! Water and Fire do NOT get along very well at all! Whether it's you causing conflict, or someone irritating you, the conflict is there! This may also indicate an issue with unemployment, underemployment, or having difficulty finding a career path in general. Whatever the case, this particular grouping indicates to me a great deal of conflict either AT work or ABOUT work.

Air would be what you think of work, how you analyze situations at work, and the work itself. You have Air, Water, Air, and Air. It looks like you are analyzing things to DEATH, and when that doesn't work you get mad and emotional over it! Depending on what it is you do, analyzing things may be a good thing, but living TOO much in your thoughts, as indicated by this MASSIVE overabundance of Air is just crazy!

Fire would be your passion for work, your goals, the direction you're heading, and this is the ONLY element that is even REMOTELY balanced when it comes to your work situation! This indicates to me that while you may not be there yet, you know where you are heading. You have a solid drive towards success. You may not exactly know how you're getting there, but at least you are willing to put in the work to do so!

Water indicates how your emotions affect your work, and how your work affects your emotions. The abundance of Earth, with a single Fire, indicates to me that it rarely affects your emotions at all. You are very well able to separate work from home, and vice versa, and only occasional does work get to you. When it does, you don't get weepy emotional over it, you get pissed, and then deal with it in your way. :bad:

Your elemental cluster are crazy! Your Waters are all together. You have two separate Fire clusters, two each, and this indicates to me that you may be a bit divided about what exactly to do. That may seem like a contradiction with your Fire element above where I said that you know where you're going, but that's more a general direction, and this is about trying to decide which specific parking place to take! You have one Earth cluster of three, and it mirrors a three Air cluster. The Air cluster is on the bottom (BAD!) which indicates that while you are normally very grounded (Earth), things are a bit unsettled for you at the moment.

Ok, yep, anyone reading this that knows anything about me is probably amazed right now. First, all of my astrological signs tend to be fire. I have red hair and used to have an awful temper when in grade school until I found out if you let your temper loose, you don't have many friends!:T I quit smoking 9 months ago yesterday, and still am having issues learning to handle stress. That said, I'll go through the reading, which I will say was so right on it is scary!

My life revolves around my kids and grandkids. I am an antisocial hermit in RL. I watch grandkids from 5am to 1am all week, maybe I get lucky some weeks and get Saturday off, as I did today. I really need that day off. My son, oh, I don't even want to get started there, he and I have always been really close- I mean, I even tend to hang out with some of his friends. He began seeing someone last spring, she has turned our lives upside down, we now barely speak. Babysitting these kids is my only income. My doctor will not allow me to work due to an injury from my job several years ago. Comp doesn't want to co-operate. I am stuck in the middle. My son only pays me part of what he told me he would. I am watching things get shut off with no way to do anything about it. I have a business that I want to get off the ground, but without a little income behind me, I can't do it. I am not supposed to be on my feet at all, and this business I can do off of my feet. But, I am stuck, just as you said.
I rely on intuition and allowing the energies that be to do what is needed. I take my cues when they are given, and do what I am needed to do. I have learned over and over that it does no good to get all upset- of course I still b!^@# and complain about it, but, when it comes down to it, I know I have to wait it out and see what happens. So, yep, the second paragraph is also right on!
As I said, my signs are all fire. I have so much trouble in relationships with losing myself in the relationship, I have decided to not have any, I now walk my path alone, celibate too. I can follow my path and take care of myself much better this way. And I do occasionally have to take off my ugly socks( ted hose that I have to wear the rest of my life)and walk around barefoot. I also have to keep a bucket of sand in the house all winter to stick my hands in sometimes. I have to create my own ground when needed! _whistle_Yeah, I am that bad. Anything I do, I put my whole heart into, and again, so with relationships, as well as anything in my life, to the point of stubbornness, which of course, at times can be a good thing.
Emotions, yeah, I am an empath and I refuse to shield. When I get too stressed out, my body shuts it down and I feel nothing, it is awful and I hate it, so I want to feel it all! I also put up with alot before I will get mad. I do mean ALOT. And when I have had enough, someone is gonna get an earful. My son is putting me through alot right now, I am trying to just let him work it out for himself, but , I am getting fed up. He has NEVER treated me bad before, and I know it isn't him, but yet I am waiting for him to take control of the situation before I have to step in to protect the babies. (My temper got dampened many years ago in an abusive relationship, yeah, that is a bad thing to live through, but it was a lesson for me to learn).And as I said up top, I am having issues with stress, now that I can't smoke it away.
So, overall, you probably see it all now, the issues are with my son and his disrespect. This reading was exactly correct! :smileroll Thanks for doing it for me!

Here you go!

When I look at the pattern here, I think of one of those little games that have several tile pieces, and you slide them around until you discover the picture. You're sliding the "game" that is life around until you find the right fit. You are currently in a transformative state, trying to realign your life, perhaps overcoming some difficult times, and bringing balance into your life.

Earth is home, family, and physical health. Here is Fire, Water, Air, and Water. No Earth here indicates that this has been an area of concern for you. You may have dealt with serious health issues in the past, and may still be dealing with them. Elementally, Fire indicates issues with the nervous system (energy), Water with the circulatory system (blood), and Air with the respiratory system, but also with the brain (Air is the element of the mind). The lack of Earth perhaps indicates that the issues you've had dealt with other more solid and concrete areas of the body, either bones, or other tissues that have been painfully affected. Though looking at the overall pattern in this reading, I see that while not necessarily entirely in the past, you have come a long way in dealing with these issues.

Air covers your thoughts and troubles. Here we see Air, Fire, Water, and Air. Again, no Earth, which indicates a bit of a lack of grounding when it comes to your thoughts. Also notice that Air is on top AND on bottom. Have you ever been described with someone who has their head AND feet in the clouds? The competing Fire and Water in the middle here concerns me a bit, though perhaps it is simply indicating your ability to resolve conflicts and develop compromises and bring control to seemingly impossible situations.

You have passion, but what drives you is your experience, the things that have happened in your life, and your desire to bring healing to all. Water is the realm of your emotions. Fire, Earth, Air, Fire, with no Water in this cluster. I see this as indicating that you aren't an overly emotional person. The Fire indicates passion in your emotions, and perhaps a bit of a temper, though Earth tends to ground that out nicely. Air under the emotions indicates the ability to take a step back and analyze WHY you are feeling a certain way.

Overall, while this isn't perfectly balanced (and who is?) I see that you are working on becoming much more balanced than you have in the past. You only have one cluster, Earth, under your Fire element. This may indicate that you are TOO practical at times, and need to cut loose and have fun a bit more, but overall it's a great grouping.

He will straighten it out, I just hope he does before kids get hurt,( they are the two bigger kids in my siggy. The littlest one is my daughters baby) . He is usually very level headed, this is not like him. But, I had to make my mistakes at that age too, I just gotta be here for him when it all falls apart. I am very happy they got their own place to live, that took alot of the stress off of me! I've been sending the results on to my mom, she is totally freaked out by how accurate it is! I love divination things, this one sounds quite interesting, it is different. Sometimes it is important for us to know where out elements are so we can balance ourselves out! Mine are just beginning to balance back out after the h&!! I have been through the past several months, but it is already feeling so much better.

I've been doing a mini-version of this for a long time, pulling one or two stones to get an idea of how the elements are working in a person's life. I've only recently decided to start looking at this more in depth as a full-blown divination system, and it's got a lot of potential. I've made digital "cards" to use on my Tarot software program, and I think tomorrow that I'll make some actual cards. Just need to cut some index cards to squares, color them the appropriate colors, and I'm good to go.

I'm also working out some ideas for the spread. It uses all sixteen pieces/cards, and I'm considering assigning each position an element under the element. Something like this:

Earth (E) Air (A) Fire (F) Water (W)
E of E A of A F of F W of W
A of E F of A W of F E of W
F of E W of A E of W A of W
W of E E of A A of W F of W

So the ideal, balanced person (does such a thing really exist?) would have each element in it's own spot. And seeing how the elements interact, good or bad, would show areas of conflict in a person's life. For example:

F W F F
E E A W
W A W E
A F E A

The first column has F in an E spot, E in an A spot, W in a F spot, and A in an F spot. Second column has W in A, E in F, A in W, and F in E. Third has F in F, A in W, W in E, and E in A. Fourth has F in W, W in E, E in A, and A in F. Whoever this is, it's one mixed up person!

This is because the elements interact at very basic levels:

Friendly (F):
Earth and Water
Air and Fire

Neutral (N):
Earth and Fire
Air and Water

Conflicting (C):
Water and Fire
Earth and Air

And each element supports (S) itself fully, though too much of the same element clustered causes all of the other elements to be out of balance.

Looked at this way, we now have:

N N S C
C N N F
C N F C
F N C F

Only one element is supporting itself, and there are four conflicting elements, and four friendly elements. This person's Air, their mental realm, is completely neutral. Their home life, while in some ways a source of joy, is mostly full of conflict. Their emotions are contradictory. Some satisfaction, but conflict as well. Their only real support is in their passions/career, but there is conflict there as well, though with the friendly interaction coupled with the support, this conflict is likely to be easily overcome.

If I told you I had TWO jobs right now would that make more sense?
I actually gave notice at one of them 2 weeks ago but haven't been able to work there since my accident last weekend.

The passion for work (even without knowing where to go) makes perfect sense to me.
That's how I am, I have loose goals in mind but no real plan to succeed, so I just sort of push.

Haha the emotional comment works TOO well, and that's a recent development.
I used to get weepy sad and sick, now I just get mad. Roar hehehe.

Unsettled yes! Story of my life.

When I look at the pattern here, I think of one of those little games that have several tile pieces, and you slide them around until you discover the picture. You're sliding the "game" that is life around until you find the right fit. You are currently in a transformative state, trying to realign your life, perhaps overcoming some difficult times, and bringing balance into your life.

Overall, while this isn't perfectly balanced (and who is?) I see that you are working on becoming much more balanced than you have in the past. You only have one cluster, Earth, under your Fire element. This may indicate that you are TOO practical at times, and need to cut loose and have fun a bit more, but overall it's a great grouping.

That is what we lost my DIL from a little over a year ago, she had been under doctors care, yet they failed to find it in all the tests they were running on her to figure out what she had. They didn't figure it out in time, I went to wake her up for work one day and she was dead, complete shock since her doctors kept telling her nothing serious was wrong. What a nightmare and a shock.
