the Magna Carta

while it originated as a convenient fix to a local problem, the Magna Carta has fallen into history as one of the landmark documents of mankind (particularly the clause guaranteeing the right to a trial by one's peers). i was fortunate enough to have actually viewed this charter in the British Museum.
