View Full Version : Weekly Divination ~ Does how many matter?

I was asked a great question yesterday, and in answering it thought hmm what a wonderful topic of the week.

While observing 4 small birds landing and chirping in the apricot tree out back...
Then noticing 2 geese overhead...
Then 8 dark birds (sorry didn't know then~ and still do not what kind) all flying in the same direction...

I was asked, when you see the birds does it matter how many there are in the message?

Does it?

smiles

Please (especially new folks and lurkers) remember your answer may differ from mine and is of equal value! So please don't be shy add your thoughts or questions to the threads each week.

sometimes it does sometimes it does not.

I saw 2 swans just after Adam told me he loved me and I left the apartment I was sharing with my ex.
the 2 seemed significant of love and unity in addition to the symbolism of the swan itself.

But when I saw 2 herons, it didn't matter to me how many, they always meant the same thing, self sufficiency and grounding.

If it's a flock of birds I don't feel as strongly about the number as if it's a pair or a trio.
Numbers usually make themselves apparent to me in other ways so I usually draw off the symbolism of the animal instead.

I tend to agree with you, and my response that day was very similar.

For example during migration seasons....

Many people are of the belief that many crows at a home mean either a witch lives there or a pregnancy, or a death ... lol clearly depends on the tradition

for me i know when they are all in my yard it is more of a we got your back

when you ask a question and are gazing up to the sky for an answer, the direction birds come from and how many can really answer your question

the truth can be very mundane too, as far as many birds feeding before a storm -- or after rain etc

anyone else have further thoughts

Crows watch my back too.
I always feel safer when I see one.

I think the # of the animals would be significant for me if for example, it was usally a solitary type of animal, and suddenly I saw a group of them. Or vice versa, if it were normally a herd or flock animal and I only saw 1 or 2 of them. That would be an out of the oridnary occurence, and so would mean more to me than say... a flock of geese flying overhead.

The only time numbers of animals meant anything to me was the time I ran into a lone wolf in the woods. This is a separate incident from the time a wolf guided me out of the woods in the UP when I was two. I got lost in the woods and a few hours later a cop saw me being lead out by a wolf a few miles from Munising. All I could talk about was the big doggy.

So, about 15 years ago I was hiking in the woods and ran into a lone wolf. The solitary wolf meant one logical thing for me - I stand a better chance against one attacking wolf then a pack of them.

That being said the wolf didn't attack nor did it run. We did however stare at each other and I actually started to talk to it. It still didn't run.

The symbolism was very much a personal one. First, the wolf is part of my totem. Or is a spirit guide - depending on one's preference in labeling. Second, I am a loner and was often likened to a lone wolf. At the time, I wondered if I had made a mistake following my own solitary path and standing up - even alone - for things I believed in. For some reason, this encounter solidfied my belief that I was right to take the stances I did and I stopped questioning.

Whenever I begin to doubt myself I pull that memory out and relive it. The doubt goes away.

One for sorrow
Two for joy
Three for a girl
Four for a boy
Five for silver
Six for gold
Seven for a secret that's never been told.

Of course it does!

Ok, you asked:

Well two of one for me means, together as one. Three of one for me is the same as four of one. 1111 came into my life at a time that I needed guidance, I needed encouragement, and I needed to pay attention. And so I did. It can come in many forms and still have the same meaning behind it. Say, 114, also to me is 11-1111. Just a reminder that I need to pay attention. I have read many reasons behind the 1111 meanings and they all seem to point in the same direction. But for me it just means to pay attention, that if I need to ask for help or guidance I will get it and I do time and time again.

It is a little harder for me to pay attention to the number of animals or even images or symbols, but about a year ago I did start to do that. I remember when I was first getting into meditation my teacher pointed out, if you see animals during meditation pay careful attention to the number. At first that was very hard for me to do, but then I was able to always count and not put too much effort into it to take away from what else was going on. When I am watching say for a sign, I am careful to count if it comes in the form of an animal. And then from there I deduct what the meaning is. It can also change from time to time. All forms of one come to me in some fashion. And right now I happen to be in a one life cycle.

Hope all of that makes sense; it is meaningful to me but not always to others.

you rock, thanks for taking the time to type that up

even if someone doesn't choose to use exactly like you do, you may inspire someone to really think more about the signs they see and what it means

i love when people realize that their messages are for them, and most of us seem them a bit differently - but can think hmm wait, how can i add to what i do now!

Nods.

Seeing signs, watching for signs….it can be a very moving experience. It reminds you that something out there takes the time to acknowledge what you are inquiring about. It can be very humorous too at times. It can be off the wall. I was always taught keep an eye out it may not come in the form you think they will come in. They are very creative at getting your attention.

The best part is when my friends get my signs and then call me to tell me all about it. Or when I get their signs. I have learned you have to share that information.
