View Full Version : Weekly Divination ~ out in left field??

We have ALL been there, and if not you will be. So you are in a class, a thread, heck even the grocery store...a person asks a question and another person answers and you think something along the lines of:

what?!
wow umm wow?!
where did THAT come from??
umm wow what I would say is not even NEAR that!

How do you handle your very different knowledge or opinion then what was stated?

Keeping in mind the topic is meant to apply to dream interp and divination answers, but obviously is an across the board kinda life thing :)

I usually take what they say in and look at it from an unbiased perspective,
often others will have insight that you lack. It is definately something that you can learn from.

Other times, it can be so off the wall and off base that I just shut my mouth so I don't say something offensive and promptly forget about their random, sometimes stupid, comment.

LOL.

Depends on what is being said and how though,

edit to add:
If they're giving advice or interpretations to someone else and I disagree with it, I'll wait until I have the person in private (or in the case of online a PM) and explain my stance or opinion. Though this is usually reserved for those people that behave as though they are experts on everything and that anything anyone else says is wrong. No point in being confrontational, it usually achieves nothing but drama.

I say, "This is how I've come to see it..." and leave it at that. Just because their answer seems completely strange to me, doesn't necessarily mean it's wrong.

:smoke: "I want some of what you're smoking. It must be some damn good stuff." Oops did I type that outloud? :smoke:

No. I may think that but I wouldn't write that. I would take more the stance that aranrose does. I would share my opinion and preface it with "it has been my experience" or something like that.

If, the off the wall opinion/stance, has some intriguing supporting data/experience behind it then I may do some outright grilling. Courteously of course. Because, as WomanMonster noted ya just may learn something....

Yeah, being tactful really sucks sometimes. LOL

I have had this sort of thing happen when I offer to interpret a reading that someone has already done for themselves. I try very hard not to read what they have (or someone else has) come up with, so that it doesn't color my own opinions, but yeah... after I go back & read some replies I'm like, "WTF?" LOL

So, I've offered my $0.02 and have to leave it @ that. Ultimately it is up to the person asking the question what meanings to take in.

I do enjoy reading alternate interpretations though. I like seeing how others read and how they came to the conclusions that they did. It broadens my perspective (or increases my confidence, depending on how wrong they really are! Kidding, people, take a pill ;) ).

At times like this, I also try to keep in mind that occasionally, when I'm doing a reading, I get information that doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever. Then I relay that information to the client and it makes perfect sense to them. Maybe the reader in question is having one of those moments, where they can't explain why that information is important, but they just needed to say it. They may be thinking "WTF?" themselves! :D

Hummm, some good advice there. I've just jumped in with both feet in my mouth most times. It never has a satisfactory conclusion when I do that.

<sighs heavily>

First off Welcome Shaddar!

I tend to use words like hmmm interesting...

(now before you go searching my replies lol know I really also do that when I find something interesting and am thinking)

the point? I have learned through the years to keep my comments more what they normally are - when I am in truth thinking omgs seriously?! wow miss some meds or just live in tv shows?!

if the person has not yet explained their position I will often ask can you explain that? or now help me understand?

again you will notice that is the same thing i do when i want to understand most anything i am missing

at that point i evaluate and think hmmm interesting and mull it about some, or as further questions - of course sometimes i realize the person is just not at all at the same vibration i am and there will not be an "understanding"

i tend to try to always say what i have seen/learned/experienced is and explain what i think and see

above all keeping in mind the old adage it is really YOUR perceptions

for example i am sure you have all heard of the college study? Where a teacher hired an actor to come into the classroom and run in, steal a bag and run out.

Then they were all witnesses to the same "crime" and yet all saw and heard very different things.

Since where you are really is about your inner vibration at that time :)

Some of the very wise people, often were first told they were out in left field.

Someone at work yesterday was trying to tell me that the earth revolves around the sun. Can you believe it? I was aghast at their misinformation. As I readily told them. Since WE ALL know the earth revolves around ME MEMEMEMEMEME!!!!_whistle_

On the same theme, and to keep discussion going....

What to do if someone thinks your interpretation is off the wall? It's easy to joke about someone else sounding off base, but don't we learn more and get more in-depth when we are called out on our own divination?

I know I do. It makes me think a bit more.....

Well I know I have had folks so oh no not me never...

And I remind them that is you TODAY that says that -- you do not know what changes may be coming, stay open and see if it doesn't apply later...

and I am always happy to admit look I could be off or wrong, but in my experience ....

I am also but no one believes me when I tell them this. Why is that?:weirdsmilBecause if I'M always right, then that means that YOU are always wrong. We can't BOTH be right... it just doesn't make sense.

and I am always happy to admit look I could be off or wrong, but in my experience ....Yes, this is pretty much how I handle it. I ask them to keep it in mind in the coming months, and apologize if they feel that my reading was off. I say something like, "I know it may seem off now, but you never know. Just check back to the reading in a little while and see if some of it doesn't make sense then. And, please keep me posted!" Sometimes people do, sometimes they don't keep me posted, but I LOVE it when they do, for right or wrong. :)

I have done that also. Now, I am not bragging here but I have yet to get feedback that I was wrong - tarot readings. Of course, can I really be wrong when I don't ask what their question is? I don't ask that. I don't want to know. I just have the querant concentrate on their issue and I do the card spread and tell them what each card means and how it relates to it's position in the spread and the others.

So technically, I can't be wrong because the querant is the one that applies the meanings to their issue - not me.

So, I am perfect. Bow before my greatness:nyah:

Sorry. Just can't stay 100% serious.
