Hello. I was wondering whether or not there's a difference between Satanism and Devil Worship? If so, what is it?

It depends. I mean really, that's sort of a question of "The Devil you Know" versus "The Devil You Don't" now, isn't it?

:D

Yes, I suppose it is...what do you think? And what about Lucifer? In your opinion was he just a fallen angel or is he one with Satan/the Devil?

To me, they're all the same construct of Christianity. Now, if you're asking whether Christianity is a Dualistic religion or a Monotheistic one, there you have the crux of a Satan (or other generic Devil) ~vs~ Satan (Lucifer) question.

A Dualistic religion will consider Satan/Devil to be equal in power and prestige to God. A Monotheistic one will technically consider Satan/Lucifer to be subservient to God, regardless over his dominion over Hell.

I'm more apt to give you flippant answers though. You're better off waiting for someone who believes in Satan to come in here. ;)

It depends on how you define Satan, how you define the devil, etc - do you see them as the same being or seperate?.

There's many different kinds of Satanism and Satanist (even within one group like the Temple of Set, they don't all have the same beliefs about Satan), IMO, one of the best things about Satanists is that no 2 are alike (or most of them have different beliefs).

And some Satanists don't even believe in Satan at all ;)

Sure. Satanism is a philosophy and mindset on how to live and find balance in the modern world. Devil Worship is a hilarious scare-tactic invented by the Christian church to garner followers.

A huge difference.

Devil worshipping as a philosophy requires that the person subscribe to a Xian mindset to a certain extent just to allow themselves something to rebel against by intentionally choosing an offensive path with regards to a popular religious ideal.

Satanism with regards to the LaVeyan philosophy is an abject denial and rejection of religion in general. An understanding of one's own strength without needing the crutch of religion to add weight to your own argument etc.

Add to the mix of what everyone else has said, Luciferianism, and you have quite a few options to chose from when you say, "Satanist"!
