Do you use any visual aids to focus yourself before you meditate?
I have used in the past the tarot cards for meditation especially when doing the Fools Journey or for breaking bad habits and so on. I have also used colors to and certain shapes...
I am working on my own meditation deck to help those who have problems with concentration and visualizing things when going through various types of meditations.
So how about you ?

I use mental visual aids... usually the curl of my breaths out and into my body

I use fire, as with most things I do. I light a candle and then imagine I am sitting in the center of the flame. Fire has always been my focus. I was a bit of a pyromaniac when I was a kid.

Yay a fellow Pyro !!! :woot: you know I did not think of that being an aid, I use candles all the time as a means of relaxing before meditations, but for some reason did not think of it when I made the first post.

I'll do visualizations and a couple times I've meditated lightly with runes,flames, and tarot cards but to be honest it frustrates me. I just can't try and concentrate on something in front of me, I realize that because I've always been a daydreamer, I prefer to be my own architect.

Not really - everything I've needed to "See" I can usually "see" it better in my mind with my eyes shut - the trick is to keep seeing it and not lose it under a pile of other thoughts!

I just can't try and concentrate on something in front of meWhat I use to do is look at the card for a few minutes and then shut my eyes and then focus on the image in my mind.
