What do folks have planned for tonight's lunar eclipse? It's the last total lunar eclipse until 2010!
My wife and I are going to do something; we just don't know yet what that something is. We're very bad at planning things in advance. Hopefully something will occur to us when the time comes.

I'm going to watch until I get too bored to watch it... if I can manage, not sure if I'm going to go outside and watch, or watch from a window, or what...

It came during the birthday feast we were having for my husband. Definitely a time of transition...during the eclipse we got a call from the realtor, things are speeding toward closing! Also, a bizarre event, a very important e-mail from a friend of mine, concerning an important transition she is working on in her life, showed up in my daughter's mail box! she called me to the computer to see it. My friend thinks she's catholic, but honestly, the girl is totally pagan, I mean she planned to do this thing to coincide with the eclipse.
We were able to watch it through the window, and kept checking every few minutes. It looked as if the moon was being swallowed.
Usually I am the one at work telling everyone...look up, there's a meteor shower, or whatever. But yesterday our dept supervisor told everyone not to miss the eclipse, and one of my buddies, who leaves earlier than the rest of us (and to my knowledge doesn't know I'm pagan) had begun to leave, and hurried back to make sure I knew about the eclipse so I wouldn't miss it.
Apparently this one was of great importance to a LOT of people. We are all touched by the happenings in nature, no matter what label we put on our faith.

Glad so many people got a chance to enjoy this beautiful event.
Our ritual was grounding and centering ourselves in this Here and Now, stepping outside (adequately bundled, promise! ) and Watching. Not just watching, but really watching, being fully aware, fully present witnesses to this glorious sight. We were out from about 8:40 until about 9:05, seeing the last sliver of moonlight turn into a flare of moonlight and then disappear as totality began. Then we came back inside and drank hot cocoa.
It felt perfect. It felt like the best ritual we could have done to honor the eclipse.

My wife's camera died right in the middle of our picture-taking efforts, so we didn't get anything good. I'd love to see what y'all were able to come up with.

I am very sad to have not been able to see it. Denver was quite overcast that night. However, transitions galore are occurring, so there's still meaning. But almost three years before we get to see another--how very sad.
We took pictures of the lunar eclipse that occurred just after we had moved back home to Colorado and during the season that the Red Sox won the Series for the first time since 1918... it was quite an amazing night when those photos were taken. Perhaps I will find them and post them. And don't worry--I'll be sure to note they're not from this year. ;)
Peace, all. And happy transformation...
