A Malaysian woman is suing her husband for $A1 million over the loss of her virginity.

The 30-year-old teacher is claiming 3.0 million ringgit ($A1.03 million) in damages for false promises over their marriage, which collapsed after her in-laws disapproved, The New Straits Times said.

It said the pair consummated their relationship after dating for a few months, then legally registered their marriage, but they never went through the customary Chinese marriage rites.

:T Well, you can't blame her, your virginity is one thing you can't get back (despite the types of surgery available now, you can't really undo what's already been done).

Plus, it may affect her ability to marry at all now, some cultures highly prize virginity in a woman and I wonder if that has something to do with all this..

I condone this because of the culture she's in. If nobody will marry her now and her parents (ie father) won't take her back, at least she won't starve like every other woman this has happened to. Good for her for suing!

And for the record, mine's $2 million.

:veryweird don't advertise that to any future mates Kluckster! Wait until after they divorce you then milk them for $2m!
and hey it's not her fault that her culture stinks if virginity is the only way you get to marry.

Exactly. It wasn't that long ago that the U.S. also operated on the "exchange virginity and exclusive access to sexuality for lifelong support" model. I don't think the sum she's asking for is unreasonable, especially given the public humiliation she must be going through after having been turned out.

She could probably find someone in the West to marry. It seems that's a common thing for women from the Orient for some reason. Men in the West don't care about virginity status so much, apparently.

It's always nice to see individuals debunk it, but unfortunately I think our media tries to convince men otherwise. And some are weak enough to fall prey to it, which is just plain sad.

Either way, I still don't have my $2m! :2G:

Come on! Who doesn't want to try it with a chicken, eh? It's an experience of a lifetime!

i was about to say, from what ive learned in our culture, you're LESS likely to get a hubby if you are a virgin...

this reminds me of something that happend at my old job

i worked for a drug and alcohol rehab program, and as calls were not unusual it was usually clients of the program or police officers or other treatment programs.

well oneday i answered the phone and there is this woman on the other end ranting and raving about how it was all my fault (named by name) and one of the couselors (also named by name) that she was no longer a virgin and that she couldnt take it back, and that we were responsible.

i really tried to control my emotions i really dont know what i was feeling anger, laughter, confusion. i have a pretty good memory of the people who came through our program since i saw all of their names every day and well this person was not one of them i had never met her before in my life.

so i transfer her over to the couselor in question, she said she also had no idea who this woman was.

but it was all our fault that she was no longer a virgin.

yah i held a gun to her head and made her have sex who ever she was.

so this went on for about a week or so, my other co worker would answer the phone and i would hear her yelling at the other end from across the room, he wouldnt say anything to her and just put her on hold and say its for you and then laugh.

it turns out that the woman was very disturbed. and had done this to other programs (after we called our police officers on the issue) she would do some research and find out people who worked there names and then accuse them of such miss deeds.

eventually they delt with her, i have no idea how.

but i will never forget her, its all my fault shes no longer a virgin, im glad she didnt sue me over it lol.

as far as the virgin marriage thing, i think its over rated. i want to try out the goods before i make it a permanent fixture. i decided as soon as i knew what sex was that i wasnt going to save my self for marriage. and i havent. i have tried out many guys, and well as some of them were ok, there were some that if i had known how bad they were i would have just had to let them go. lucky for me i have a guy who doesnt care about that kind of thing, and he has tried out more women than i have men.

if i were in a culture that it was a requirement i dont know what i would do, i guess that i would have to get the whole hymen reconstruction thing, i hear that there is a large influx of women who are getting it done in some areas because it is not acceptable for a woman to get married if she is not a virgin

what it all comes down to is one thing, and i have thought about this for a while now.

men started to get posessive of women when they realized that the act of sex caused babies, they are possesive of those babies, and as far as the virgin thing goes, basicly it is the act of one person who has been untainted by another persons genetic material. therefore if a man knows he is the only one to have that kind of contact with a woman, then the likelyhood of him conseving that child to be his is much more.

i read something in a book once, a woman knows when she has had a child, a man however does not know for sure if those childeren are his or how many he may have if he has been with more than one person. sure now we have dna testing to confirm such things, but as far as that goes, its not a true exact science to be sure that the child is the mans or not, if the woman for some reason lies about it, who the father may are may not be, then well who ever that person is they might not know at all. if that makes sense.
