Lynchings in Congo as penis theft panic hits capital

KINSHASA (Reuters) - Police in Congo have arrested 13 suspected sorcerers accused of using black magic to steal or shrink men's penises after a wave of panic and attempted lynchings triggered by the alleged witchcraft. Reports of so-called penis snatching are not uncommon in West Africa, where belief in traditional religions and witchcraft remains widespread, and where ritual killings to obtain blood or body parts still occur.
Rumours of penis theft began circulating last week in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo's sprawling capital of some 8 million inhabitants. They quickly dominated radio call-in shows, with listeners advised to beware of fellow passengers in communal taxis wearing gold rings.

I remember reading about this in the mid 90's It seems to be a recurring theme in that part of the world. They would go to extremes as tying rope to their manhood and the rest to a tree and run as fast as they can. It was even placed in the fortean Times pages as well.

Does anyone remember some of the old accusations placed against witches for stealing mens penises. I think the funniest one I read was in Compendium Maleficarum where apparently the witch stole a mens penises, kept them in a box, and fed them corn. There was one about a tree of penises too I believe.:smileroll Now that would be entertainment.

WHY is everyone laughing at this? These innocent people who were most likely NOT sorcerers are in very real danger of being beaten or lynched for the crime of "shrinking" or stealing penises... which never happened.

I don't really see the humor in it. It's another example of human stupidity.

I know it's not the most tactful thing to say, but seriously, I've had it up to here with human stupidity. it's a disease that is in fact curable but alot of people refuse to cure. So I've begun not to care to much, after all they bring it on themselves.

besides I'm not laughing over them getting hung, I'm laughing at the idea that people can magically shrink penises without the aid of steroids,

as for stealing penises, those people disgustingly enough already run around hacking off people's genitals.
