Hey everyone,

I was just wondering if maybe anyone was interested in a fanfiction writing class. I know there may be some of us who still write fanfiction or want to learn how to write fanfiction. I have been writing for 10 years and I was thinking I would be qualified to teach a class. So if anyone is interested post please. I will make a lesson plan and ask for a class if I get 5-10 replies.

What would be the difference with the writing class we have versus what your offering? Aside from the fact it is Fanfiction?

I did notice that there was a writing class offered, however, fanfiction is a whole category in itself. You know how fantasy, scifi, comedy, and so on is. I would go over the basics, like grammar, but other concerns as well such as creating original characters and making original characters interact with those that are already created. It's just a thought. Ya'll can take it or leave it.

Cool and yes I know it is another category in itself I was just wondering what your class would cover :) You do not need to be rude about it.

:) That is ok I just was asking what your class was offering that would be different that is all because I have alot of ideas for fan fiction stories just never the time to write them. And before I can say whether or not I am going to join a class I need to know what I am getting myself into :)

Not to be rude. But can fanfiction really be taught? I used to write a lot of fan fiction in my late teens early 20s, and beside's grammer and all the other basics of writing, I don't find that there's really much to it.

I'm confused how you'd teach one how to write fanfiction...exactly.

I've written for various shows myself and can't think of how someone could have taught me. It was just something that happened, if that makes sense. I watched the shows I did, got into them, took notes and observations on the characters and plots and wrote a story that inspired me that included those characters and plots. The only difference between that and original fiction was the use of established plots and characters.

I think knowing how to write in general (to various degrees depending on what you're writing) is needed before one writes fanfiction. I'm not sure how can one teach people to stay in character or do all the things required for writing already established characters and plots? It just takes paying attention to the show/book/movie and translating that properly in your fanfic. Fanfiction is such a large, diverse genre, too, things that apply to some fandoms, don't to others.

Just curious! ;)
